Music Video Shot
1. Over the Shoulder Shot
Over the Shoulder shots will primarily be used to show the characters and what they
are doing, until the climax of the video where the second characters face is revealed.
The main reasoning behind this is that we want to keep the full face of the second
character hidden until the end, as we think this would be more engaging and would be
an incentive for the listener to keep watching the video, to find out what the character
actually looks like.
This is also one of the more natural looking camera shots in a car, due to how
claustrophobic the space can be with a camera, therefore the shots look a lot more
natural rather than awkward and clunky.
2. Close Ups/Extreme Close Ups
Close-ups and extreme close-ups will be used on certain aspects of the vehicle, such as the
gearstick and the tyres. This will help show a sense of urgency, as the actions that will be
taken on the close-up shots will be quick, with quick cuts to separate them also.
The reasoning behind this is that the main character is in a rush to get to the other
character in the narrative, quick actions and quick cuts, with focus on the footage, show
that he is in a hurry to get to the other character; rather than making the tempo of the
video look slower.
Primarily, the quick cut aspects of the videos will contain close-ups.
3. Point of View [POV] Shot
•
The point of view shots used in this video will help the viewer see the urgency of
the characters actions, with fast-paced movements, like switching gears, to get to
the location quickly and urgently.
•
Point of View shots we felt were important as more emotions can be conveyed
through a point of view shot, while keeping within our conventions by not showing
the full face of the character.
•
These point-of-view shots are important,
as they give the viewer a variety of
different shots whilst watching,
keeping the flow of the video
moving without sacrificing any
entertainment value without
breaking the conventions we had
made in the storyboard.
4. Panning Shots
•
Panning Shots will be used to show the car, and the cutaways toward the titular
“bullet train”, to keep focus on the vehicles in shot, and are a relevant camera
angle to keep in tempo with the song. As the tempo of the song is consistent, it’s
important the speed of the vehicles in the song are consistent also. Otherwise the
video can fall.
