Expect to have a rainy day or two during your vacation, especially in the
winter months between November and March. With a little planning,
you can have just as much funindoors as outdoors. To make the most of
a rainy day, enjoy one of the activities listed below.
 Movies: Take advantage of matinee prices. The Sunshine
Marketplace Theaters offer discount tickets and current feature
films.
 Shopping: Most of the area shopping centers are “open-air”
complexes with some roof covering, ideal havens from the rain.
Visit the Coconut Grove Shopping Center or the Kukui Shopping
Village.
 Museums: Learn about the history of Hawaii through murals,
artifacts, and artwork by visiting one of several museums located
throughout the islands. Most museums offer special family
activities the first Saturday of each month.
 Theater: Several local community performing arts centers offer
annual productions for children and adults. Admission prices are
very affordable, and most theaters have special matinee prices.
KAUAI SI GHTS
 Na Pali Coast: Unless you are a rugged hiker, you can see this
fifteen-mile, spectacular landmark only by air or boat.
 North Shore: Find shadowy mountains, lush valleys, and
spectacular coastlines along a string of one-lane bridges.
 Hanalei Valley Lookout: Pull over to see wetland taro fields with a
backdrop of purple mountains.
 Kilauea Point: This National Wildlife Refuge is home to nesting
seabirds and an original lighthouse.
 Sleeping Giant: Nounou Mountain provides the “man in repose”
profile best seen from Kuhio Highway 56 in Kapaa.
 Coconut Coast: You will know when you are here because palm
trees line Kuhio Highway 56 on the island’s east side.
