Project Design: Ohms law shows the relation among voltage, resistance and current in a circuit.
A series circuit has resistors connected one behind the other similar to a string of Christmas lights
that have low voltage bulbs wired in series having individual voltages that add up to the source
voltage. You are given the task to prove Ohms law using a series circuit and a known voltage
source.
Objectives:
The candidate will be required to:
23. 23
i. Construct a series circuit consisting of three resistors.(100 ohms,200 ohms and 300
ohms)
ii. Measure and record voltage and current in circuit using supply voltage 1 (table 1).
iii. Measure and record voltage and current in circuit using supply voltage 2 (table 2).
iv. Analyse and report on observation and findings.
Project Design: Schematic diagram (Include test points for ammeter and volt meter)
Fig1. Supply voltage (6V)
25. 25
● One 300 ohms resistor
● 6 volt dc supply
● 12 v dc supply
● Hook up wire
● Multimeter
● Bread board
● Screw drivers, pliers
26. 26
Procedures
1. Construct circuit
2. Check to ensure components are correctly placed.
3. Apply supply voltage 1
4. Measure and record readings in table 1.
5. Apply supply voltage 2
6. Measure and record readings in table 2.
Observations
Table 1 (Supply voltage 6v dc)
Component R1 R2 R3 RT
Value (ohms) 100 200 300 60p
Component V1 V2 V3 VT
Value (Voltage) 1V 2V 3V 6VT
Component IT (Total current)
Value (Current) 10MA
Table 2 (Supply voltage 12v)
Component R1 R2 R3 RT
Value (ohms) 100 200 300 600
Quantity V1 V2 V3 VT
Value (Voltage) 2V 4V 6V 12VT
Component IT (Total current)
Value (Current) 20MA
I) What happens to the current when voltage is increased.he current increasewhen the voltage
is increase the current increased
27. 27
II) Which resistor has the highest voltage across it in both tables, why. resistor three is the
highest voltage because is the it is the highest component
III) If all resistors were 100 ohms what would be the voltage across each resistor with a 6V
supply. V1=1 V2=2 V3=3
Conclusion: (Ohms law in relationship to lab) the ohms IS equal to I=v×r
