2. O The sound that are produced without
obstruction of airstream , are called
vowel sounds.

4. /ɛ/
/o/

5. OVowels are described based on the
following criteria:
(i) The height of the tongue
(ii)The part of the tongue that is
raised or lowered
(iii) The position of the lips

6. OA vowel may be short or
long.
OLong vowels take two dots
in front of them, e.g
O/i:/, /a:/ while short
vowels e.g /i/, /e/ do not.

11. O Short e sounds . This sound is made in almost the same
sound as i , but shorter . Move your lips slightly sideways
and make a slightly wider opening of mouth .

O Long e sound . This sound is made by
moving lips sideway , more in grimace
than in smile , and the mouth slightly
wider than when we made ɪ sound .

O Short e sound . This sound is made with
your lips in a slightly grimace and the
mouth is open wider than in εi .
