Towhom it may concern,
I am writing this response to the notification that there will be a group of people
interviewing us on the technique of interviewing. I hope you enjoy learning about me
and the awesomeness I bring to the field.
Passion. Every great teacher begins with a passion for the field. That is where I
come in. I have spent years in the field as an aide among students with autism and other
developmental disabilities. It is with pride that I say these students shaped my career. I
am here today as a knowledgeable and enthusiastic special education educator. With a
firm belief in inquiry based learning and multi-sensory exploration I find the greatest
pleasure in seeing my students succeed by creating the tools and environment for them
to do so. I have been successful in implementing inquiry based learning within
kindergarten and multi-sensory learning in various autistic support classrooms. Over
the years I have enjoyed working closely with support professionals such as behaviorists,
speech pathologists, and occupational therapists. Collaboration among such
professionals is how we build a strong community of learners and can provide the best
education possible for all students.
I am currently researching the effects of project based learning with students in
life skills classrooms. This concept has spiked my interest so greatly that I am currently
developing a curriculum around the idea. I have created events for students to showcase
work in the arts. Recently, I read the Project Max initiative, a fascinating project with
the design and layout of the ideal format for successful inclusion. I intend to culminate
all that I have learned through this research, my education at East Stroudsburg
University, and through life to create the best education possible for my student to
learn, grow, and know that they are each capable of greatness.
Thank you for your time and consideration for this position.
Sincerely,
April Bartholomew
2. I am a self-motivated person with a love for education. I am a firm believer in experimental and kinesthetic
learning, and have observed great success with this. Having 4 years of experience in a school for students with
special needs, I discovered a passion and skill that prompted my desire for the field. I maintained a 3.5 GPA
while raising 2 handsome boys. I am currently working on developing a curriculum to support the wide range
of learners in inclusionary and autistic support classrooms through a science inquiry based methodology
encompassing all content areas. As a life-long learner I am always open to new ideas and strategies to give the
best possible education to all the students I work with.
