Dr Reddy Honors Nurses' Critical Role in Healthcare
1. Dr. Prathap C Reddy
INSPIRED ONCE AGAIN.
HAPPY NURSE'S DAY.
Healthcare changes every day. The healthcare scenario
when I had started practicing medicine is miles away
from the ecosystem prevalent today. However in spite of
all the innovations, one inherent truth about healthcare
stays as true as ever – nurses put heart into healthcare.
That is one of healthcare’s few constants. One very
articulate patient had said that a nurse’s caring touch
and compassionate commitment was just as critical as
the surgeon’s skilled scalpel. The gentleman could not
have been more right.
Apollo turns 30 this year, and in these three decades we
have touched over 32 million lives and transformed the
way the world perceives India, as a healthcare destination.
The world appreciates Apollo for its high standards of
clinical excellence and equally for its unique ‘Tender
Loving Care’. Nursing is and will always be a critical cog
in our success and our impact – past, present and future!
Nurses Day has always been a landmark day in the
Apollo calendar. It is one of the days when we actually
take the time reaffirm our deep respect, appreciation
and the total admiration that we feel for the nursing
fraternity in the Apollo Hospitals family.
This Nurses Day too, on behalf of the Apollo universe, I
would like to just say – Thank you - For lifting us, for
inspiring us and for completing us.
Nurses Day 2013 is globally all about ‘Closing the Gap’. It
heartens me that the policy makers on the world realize
that a goal as lofty as the Millennium Development
Goals, need the nursing community to stride the
distance from vision to reality.
As the largest number of health care professionals in the
world, there is no doubt that nurses are key to the achievement
of the Millennium Development Goals. Nurses are often,
the only health professionals accessible to many people
and therefore they are particularly well placed and often
the most innovative in reaching underserved populations.
Our nurses have done Apollo and India proud with their
legendary caring and commitment. Our innovative nursing
best practices are being emulated across developing
nation and soon patients all across the globe will benefit
from the hi-touch hi-tech healthcare model that we
pioneered in India.
The years ahead will be challenging and exciting. This
Nurses Day we urge you once again, to inspire us by
example. By teaching us to conquer every day, every
challenge with a wonderful warm smile. By instilling in
us the same passion and patience that make you the
absolute champions of healthcare.
Thank you. And God Bless you.
