The document proposes a CSR campaign called #NgangkotKeSekolah (Taking Angkot to School) to provide transportation ticket vouchers for 2000+ high school students from underprivileged families or affected by the pandemic to take angkots (public minibuses) to school in Bandung, Indonesia. The campaign aims to ease the financial burden on families and support the income of 105 angkot drivers on 3 routes. It seeks a USD 10,000 CSR fund package and partnerships with stakeholders to increase education access, welfare, and sustainability by reducing private vehicle usage.

CSR Campaign:
Ngangkot To
School
‘Ngangkot’ is a verb that represents activities of travel using angkot. Like cities in
other developing countries, cities in Indonesia also rely on informal paratransit as
public transportation. This informal paratransit in Bandung City is called Angkot. A
few decades ago, angkot emerged on a bottom-up basis: the demand for angkot
came from the local community's need to travel, accommodated by car
entrepreneurs, then it was replicated throughout the city and built up the city's
angkot network. Until the early 2000s, angkot was the mainstay of people traveling,
with drivers earning sufficient income to send their children to college. Angkot is a
social and informal approach to transportation problems in Indonesia. Times
changed until angkot was eroded by the boom of motorcycles and online
motorcycle taxis. This situation has made angkot, which from the start had not been
regulated, become increasingly uncontrollable. Worse, the profit-sharing mechanism
for drivers with the fleet owners is flat, regardless of the market situation, affecting
the attitude of angkot drivers on the streets.
On the other hand, Indonesia, a country with 45 million school children, with 8 to
13% of whom come from poor families, experiences obstacles in accessing their
educational needs, including transportation from home to school. Bandung,
populated by 2.4 million people, is known as a creative city because it is supported
by many universities and schools, some of which are among the best in Indonesia.
Meanwhile, the pandemic hits many households in Bandung, which then impacts the
well-being of school children. Jaramba wants to help reduce their burden, at least
they don't have to think about the cost of going to school for a while.
