TechGYRLS is an 8-week program for girls ages 9-14 designed to raise interest and confidence in STEAM fields through developing technological skills, critical thinking, and problem-solving. The program is run by YWCA Metropolitan Chicago on Saturdays from January to March and is free to register. It includes sessions on creating simple video games to teach skills like project management while being mentored by gaming experts.
1. TechGYRLS ( ages 9-14) is a youth empowerment program designed to raise girls’ interest,
confidence and self—efficacy in the critical areas of science, technology, engineering, arts
and mathematics (STEAM). The TechGYRLS program will help young girls develop the
usage of technological tools, critical thinking and problem-solving skills in any profession
