2. Conventions of a teaser trailer
During our research which we completed before filming we found that the average teaser trailer
lasted for around 1 and a half minutes. Due to this, while editing we tried as best we could to
shorten our trailer as much as possible due to having a large amount of footage. This is because we
wanted to insure it kept the conventions of a teaser and didn’t go on to seem like a full film trailer.
We also researched a variety of different company idents and production company logos so that we
were able to create our own to put at the start of the trailer. This is a significant part of any trailer
and helps the trailer to look professional. During research we found that usually the ident stayed on
screen for around 8 seconds, therefore we allowed this same time for ours.
3. Genre conventions
Our trailer was a teen drama set in a school. During research it became
clear that this was the preferred and popular setting for a teen drama.
The storyline commonly follows a close relationship either between
friends of a couple. We therefore chose to focus our trailer on a couple
who were at school and in there mid teens. We decided that this would
be relatable for our target audience as the audience for a teen drama is
mostly mid teens to early twenties who are both in education or have
recently left. However, as unique selling point we included the use of
magic / a wish which is not commonly used in teen dramas.
