2. News reports
News reports are found in newspapers with the purpose to inform readers of the
events or what is happening in the world around them. News reports have a certain
structure as it contains the following four points:-
1. Headline – tells what the story is about
2. Dateline / Byline – shows who wrote the story, place, Date , Month
3. Lead / Intro para – tells the most important facts (5 W’s)
4. Main Body – contains more information and details

6. A BUS - TRUCK COLLISION
ARMORI, December- 5 (PTI):
Accident took place on national highway near
Deulgaon on 5th December due to bus - truck collision
where two passengers were killed and twenty more
seriously injured.
As per the report reached here S.T. bus No. MH-
32/MWY-3247 of Gadchiroli depot was going to Nagpur.
Truck No. MH-35/MP0-7222 which hit the bus, was
carrying coal. It hit the bus fiercely as two passengers were
killed on spot and twenty passengers were seriously
injured. Injured passengers were hospitalised in the cottage
hospital of Armori. Killed passengers were sent to post-
mortem to the cottage hospital of Armori.
P.S.I batch visited the spot. He is making investigation
with his team of the accident. The truck driver was arrested
immediately.
