6. RATIONALE
This study aimed to explore whether online learning
communication has an effect on Grade 12 ABM
students of STMS in both positive and negative way,
whether online learning affects students' productivity
levels and to evaluate their perspectives and the
effectiveness of online learning to the students.
7. INTRODUCTION
• ONLINE LEARNING
Online learning also called e-learning is a method of
education whereby students learn in a fully virtual
environment. It enables students from different areas
to engage with an academic institution and other
students online to learn flexibly, at their own pace,
while working towards a degree or certificate.
8. INTRODUCTION
• ONLINE LEARNING DURING COVID-19
Online educational platforms, like Google Classroom
allow teachers to share notes and multimedia
resources related to their courses with students and
also allow students to keep track of their progress in
school.
9. INTRODUCTION
• EFFECTS OF ONLINE LEARNING
During COVID-19, teachers and students from
different countries struggle to engage in the new
method of education as providing knowledge content
and monitoring students' performance through an
online learning system is challenging.
10. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Foreign Literature
According to Li and Lalani (2020) As a result, education
has undergone significant changes, with the rise of e-
learning, in which instruction is done remotely and via
digital platforms. According to research, online learning
increases information retention and takes less time,
implying that the alterations created by the
coronavirus are here to stay.
11. REVIEW OF RELATED LITERATURE
Local Literature
According to Mateo (2020) As a result, schools across
the country are being forced to shut down for an indefinite
period of time. Classes at various schools have only recently
began, and remote learning is fraught with issues, which
Filipino students have struggled to manage. Even more
complicated is the fact that, in today's digital age, not every
student can provide and adapt to the rapid changes in
technology.
13. HYPOTHESIS
There is a significant relationship between online learning
system and the learning performance of an ABM student during
COVID-19 pandemic.
14. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM
The purpose of this study is to determine the effects of online
learning communication to Grade 12 ABM students amidst COVID
19 pandemic as a modern method of education. In particular, this
study aims to answer the following question.

33. RESEARCH FINDINGS
The researchers from St. Therese Montessori School of San Pablo
studied their fellow students' experiences as they shift to distance learning
during COVID-19 pandemic. Majority of students surveyed for this study face a
decline in their online class performance as distance learning does not help
them to increase their productivity. Because of the reported problems in
online learning, students prefer face to face communication as this is the
traditional way of teaching and learning. Aside from being more considerate
of their students' situation, instructors are reported to have fair and just ruling
on their classes.
34. RESEARCH RECOMMENDATIONS
Since this study had only focused on the current situation of
Grade 12 ABM students of STMS as they shift to online learning
during COVID-19 pandemic, it is recommended that further studies
be carried out by other researchers will seek to study broader and
include other strands with the same concerns on how online
communication is learning affecting students during COVID-19
pandemic.
