1. Company Overview and History
1.1 Nature of Business
Leaders Personnel, a privately owned corporation, commenced business in
1991 and has established a reputation as a provider of a professional service in
the selection and recruitment of key staff. We are a member of The Association
of Personnel Service Organisations of South Africa (APSO).
Our offices are located in Northcliff, Johannesburg.
Our team is headed by Simon Ridge (Managing Director), a Chartered
Accountant with an MBA, who has extensive prior experience as a Director in
listed and multinational companies, and Lee Ridge (Founder and Managing
Consultant) who has over twenty years experience in Personnel Recruitment.
Our Managing Director is a Vice President and Treasurer of APSO and has
served on the APSO National Executive for the past nine years, three of those
as President. He has also previously served for three years on the Services
SETA Labour Recruitment Chamber Board. He is Treasurer and a founding
board member of the Confederation of Associations in Personnel Employment
Sector (CAPES), having served on that board for five years, and also
represents Africa and the Middle-East as a board member of the International
2. Confederation of Private Employment Agencies (CIETT), which is based in
Brussels. He is an alternate council member on the South African Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (SACCI), representing associations, and sits on various
SACCI committees.
1.2 BEE Rating
Leaders Personnel is a Level Four B-BBEE Contributor and is a Value-added
Supplier.
As an enterprise development initiative, Siyakha Staffing Solutions was
launched in November 2005, as part of the Leader Personnel Group. The
Company has full access to all Leaders Personnel’s resources and systems as
well as finances.

3. Membership
Leaders Personnel is a member of APSO. The Managing Director currently serves as
the APSO Vice-President and Treasurer, Treasurer of CAPES and Board Member of
CIETT, as well as serving on various committees at SACCI and BUSA.
4. Recruitment Process & Procedure
4.1 Attraction Of Candidates
Leaders Personnel utilizes the following techniques in order to attract
candidates:
• Leaders Personnel has its own website at www.leagroup.co.za.
• We are registered with three other websites that provide an advertising
and marketing service for personnel agencies, as well as a database, a
candidate search facility and a means by which candidates can submit
CV’s to personnel agencies.
• Selective use is made of print media advertising as its effectiveness
varies according to the job category

5. • We believe that search is a productive recruitment strategy and in some
cases is the only way to successfully source candidates, particularly in
the case of specialist and senior positions. Consequently Leaders
Personnel has consultants who are experienced search consultants.
• We employ the following techniques:
o Organized research and search
o Networking on a referral basis
Leaders Personnel does not headhunt candidates from its client’s
organizations.
• Leaders Personnel has over the years, developed a confidential network
with other agencies for the purposes of sharing candidate resources.
• We pride ourselves on treating our candidates with dignity, providing
regular feedback to candidates and personally declining all candidates.
Consequently, we have a high volume of referrals by past candidates of
ours.
• We have our own computerized database, which provides a search
facility, a candidate-job matching function and an assignment tracking
facility.
4.2 Screening of Candidates
Leaders Personnel utilizes the following techniques in order to screen
candidates:
• Each consultant specializes in one or more job sectors. As a result the
consultant who deals with your company will, if necessary, call on the
assistance of another consultant during the screening process.
• We utilize Competency Based Recruitment Techniques, resulting not
only in minimizing the risk of discrimination allegations, but also in the
delivery of a more efficient and focused service to our clients.
• Consultants are required to solicit from the client a detailed job
specification. The job specification not only details the client’s needs, but
also focuses on the competencies required.
• The candidate interview includes the following procedures:
o Completion of a check list and rating schedule of competencies
o Behavioral event interviewing
• The consultant who works with the client company always conducts the
interview, but may (and frequently does) arrange for another consultant
who has expertise in the required areas to conduct a further interview.
• Testing is carried out in order to verify competencies that cannot be
verified by other means. Such tests include, but are not limited to the
following competencies:
o Typing
o Spreadsheeting
o Word processing

• Prior to referral to the client all candidates are reference checked
• With the permission of the candidate credit checks are carried out under
the following circumstances:
o Where it is a client requirement
o Where the inherent features of the job require it (e.g. accounting
positions)
• With the prior permission of the candidate criminal checks are carried out
under the following circumstances:
o Where it is a client requirement
o Where the inherent features of the job require it (e.g. accounting
positions)
• We utilise the services of Kroll MIE for verification purposes
4.3 Regretting of Candidates
Candidate regretting procedures are as follows:
o Those who apply by e-mail are regretted by e-mail
o Those who apply by telephone are regretted immediately unless
a CV is requested
o Those who are interviewed are regretted in person at the time, or
subsequently by telephone or by e-mail
