1. The English language
This reflection will explain about the text “the English language “how their words and structures
have emerged and changed with the past of the time. Moreover it will indicate their most
important ideas and how this text is relevant for us as future teachers of English pedagogy to be
more competent.
Going through the beginning of the text it provides a very clear information about the
development of the English language, it shows how a Germanic dialect spoken in a small amount
is now one of the most spoken language in the world. Firstly it’s because English is a mixture of
other languages, the English that is now known has adopted a lot of words (loanwords) from other
influences such as French and Latin. As result of this influences we can notice different varieties
of the same language
The text is a good element for our learning , it’s totally relevant with the course lexical analysis
because it contributes knowledge to us about geography and history of the language, also
provides useful information to achieve two of the objectives of the course, periods in the history
and word formation processes in the English language. As future teachers is necessary to know as
much as possible about what we are going to teach. One of the issues today is that most of the
teachers are not engaged with the language. It’s not enough know about some aspects of English,
a good teacher need to get a complete knowledge about the English culture and its origin.
In my opinion the text has provide me in an easier way information of the English culture and and
made me reflect that English language is a huge opportunity to be connected with the world,
everyday is more widespread you could find a person who speaks English everywhere, besides as
a future teacher to know English language helps you to expand your abilities and knowledge, I
strongly think that a person have to get the most of their opportunities besides we cannot keep
ourselves with a limited information we have to learn day after day .
