purpose do roots
serve!!
✕ Well . . . There are
two!!
+ Roots absorb water
from the ground for
the flower.
+ Roots also keep the
plant anchored to
the ground.

4. STEM!!!
✕ What does the stem do for a
flower?
✕ Sure . . . It provides support for
the entire organism!
✕ Also remember that the
vascular system of the plant
goes up through the stem to
the rest of the flower.

5. LEAVES!!
✕ You know this . . . .
✕ What do leaves do?
✕ Exactly! Leaves
catch sunlight and
carbon dioxide for
the flower so that it
can create energy!

6. FLOWER/PETALS!!!
✕ Hmmmm . . . . You so purty!!!!

✕ You just saw some
very cute flowers!
✕ How are flower
petals like make up
for the flower?

Exactly! They
attract pollinating
bugs by crying out,

✕ The sepal are the
small leaves at the
base of the flower that
protect the bud when
the flower is growing!!!

9. STAMEN!!
✕ The stamen on a
flower helps
make more
flowers!
✕ The stamen is
the male
reproductive
part of the plant
and supports
the anther!

10. ANTHER!!
✕ The anther sits atop each
stamen.
✕ The anther holds pollen
grains. These pollen grains
are loosened when
pollinating insects come
flying around a flower and
get knocked into the pistil.
✕ What is a pistil? And what
happens next? Well, cool
your jets!

11. PISTIL!
✕ Yes!
✕ This is a plant part!
✕ The pistil is the female
reproductive part of the plant.
Pollen grains fall down into
the pistil and rest in the
bottom, know as the ovary.
✕ There, the pollen grains
become seeds!
