What is an advertisement?
- Advertisement is media content intended to persuade audiences of readers,
viewers, or listeners to take action on products, services, and ideas. (Azizah,
2015)
Things that make up the advert:
1. Look at the product (visual images)
2. Slogan
3. Text (Facts about the advertisement, date, venue, and costs)
4. Register and Style (Does the advert use formal or informal letters)
6. AIDA
Advertising is designed to inform influence, or persuade people.
To be effective, an advertisement must first Attract attention and gain a
person’s Interest. It may then build Desire for a product and provide a
method for them to take Action (Ranjan, 2015)
Characteristics of Advertisement
Non-personal form of communication aimed at a target audience
Used by Commercial, Not for Profit Organizations and Governments
(Gandass, 2013).
ADVERTISING IS PAID FOR.
Most advantages are ultimately concerned with selling.

There are different types of advertisements:
1. Print advertising: Newspaper, magazines, posters, flyers.
2. Broadcast advertising: Radio, TV
3. Outdoor advertising: Bus stops, billboards, banner planes (Khaleel, 2011)
4. Digital advertising: Google Aids, audio ads.
8. PROS OF ADVERTISEMENT
1. Advertisements help to increase the sale of goods and so producers can sell
goods at reasonable prices (Serna, 2011)
2. They raise the standard of living of people by drawing attention to new
products and ideas.
3. Advertisements can be found in magazines, radio programs, in the
newspaper in the streets, or in kiosks.
9. CONS OF ADVERTISEMENT
1. They make us buy things we do not need or want.
2. They make us believe that our dreams will come true if we use their products
(Serna, 2011)
3. They imply that money can make our dreams come true.

What is the Target audience?
- Customers of a type considered likely to buy a particular product.
Advertisers inform a group of people (Target Audience) about an idea or product
and try to persuade us to support the idea or to buy the product.

they are the most direct and proven way to reach potential customers.
Advertising is a powerful tool that can help you attract customers, inform
them about your products, and build customer trust.
