Vijay Mallya is an Indian businessman who was born in 1955. He is the son of industrialist Vittal Mallya and chairman of United Breweries Group, Kingfisher Airlines, Force India F1 Team, and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Mallya took over as Chairman of UB Group in 1984 which is a multi-national conglomerate owning over 60 companies in sectors like beverages, life sciences, and engineering. In 2003, he established Kingfisher Airlines but it struggled with debt and failed to turn a profit. Mallya also owns sports teams and sponsors many sporting events through his conglomerate.
