2. Temporal cognition encompasses the set of brain functions that enable
experiencing the flow of time and processing the temporal
characteristics of real world phenomena such as process time which is
fundamental to many of our daily activities, recalling our experiences,
making and executing plans to accomplish certain goals.
Sympatho-vagal balance is essential to balance the tempo of the vital
functions in the body therefore both temporal cognition and sympatho-
vagal balance play a key role in human life
Background
3. To quantify the Temporal cognition using Auditory- Visual
reaction time, Critical flicker fusion frequency, Stroop test
and Digits forward test.
To assess the sympatho-vagal balance using Heart rate
variability analysis
Objectives
4. Quantification of temporal cognition by using
1. Auditory reaction time
2. Visual reaction time
3. Critical flicker fusion frequency
4. Stroop test
5. Digits forward test.
Sympatho-vagal balance is assessed by 5 minute recording
of lead II ECG for Heart rate variability analysis(HRV).
Study design
5. Statistical analysis will be done by using SPSS 25.0 software.
The data reported as mean + standard deviation (SD).
Comparison of data will be done by using parametric or non
parametric tests, based on the distribution of data. Pearson
correlations will be used for associations. Statistical
significance will be taken at 5%.
