Arielle Wait is the Deputy Director of Lucky Dog Animal Rescue. She began as a volunteer handler at adoption events and quickly became more involved by fostering dogs, coordinating adoptions, and planning adoption events. 4. How did Arielle get started in animal rescue?
● Someone suggested she become a foster and
chose to foster a 120 pound bloodhound mix

● After that she loved it and started fostering twice a
month and then every weekend
● Arielle got more involved and ended up adopting a
dog from Puerto Rico that really pushed her to be as
involved as she is now
● It is her dream job and she has been involved in
every part of the organization and is now the
Deputy Director where she manages the daily
activities

5. What does Lucky Dog Animal Rescue do?
● Lucky Dog is a volunteer-powered nonprofit dedicated to
rescuing homeless, neglected, and abandoned animals
from certain euthanasia and finding them loving forever
homes
● They educate the community and all pet owners on
responsible pet parenting, including the importance of
spay/neuter, obedience training, and good nutrition.
● Their volunteers are very dedicated!

the importance of spay and neuter and its role in
helping control pet overpopulation.

6. What programs does Lucky Dog Animal Rescue have?
● Main program focus is saving animals from high kill
shelters and bringing them to foster homes. Without
fosters they wouldn’t have an organization

● Program is growing and always looking for more fosters
● They have overnight fosters, long term fosters until
they are adopted, temporary fosters who give a place
for animals to stay if their long term foster goes on
vacation or out of town for a few days
● Adoption coordinator program/volunteer program

people are looking for in a dog)

7. What is the Lucky Dog Animal Rescue Kids Program?
● Designed to involve kids in their mission of rescuing
homeless and abandoned animals
● Kids and their parent will come to the adoption events
where the children can learn and play with the dog,
run bake sales, fundraise and make toys

● Ambassador Program: For older kids. They can
participate in fundraising events, donations drives, help
with social media where they come to adoption events
and take photos and videos and do a quarterly
newsletter
● Kids can apply for grants for the rescue which goes toward
medical care and supplies to help with fundraisers to make
toys
