Dear Sir or Madame:
I am Alyson D. Frazier, a 20-year veteran educator licensed in the state of Ohio as a
special educator. I currently hold a 5 year Professional Educators License to teach
Education of the Handicapped (K-12) expiring June 30, 2020. Currently, I am in a
transition phase of my career where I am examining additional career choices and options
related to my advanced education in the field of Educational Technology. In April 2014, I
resigned from my tenured position as an Intervention Specialist in order to complete my
doctoral program of study at The University of Phoenix. I expect the complete Doctor of
Education in Educational Leadership in Educational Technology in December 2015. An
Adjunct World post prompted me to submit my resume and cover letter with your
organization. I believe that my educational background and career experience are
valuable tools that I have developed and maintained to transition to a career using
technology and education. I am interested in employment that will allow me the
opportunity to provide resources to educators, while and after I complete the research and
dissertation completion of my program.
My educational background consists of the following:
Doctor of Education in Educational Leadership, Educational Technology.
University of Phoenix- School of Advanced Studies. Expected Graduation Date
December 2015.
Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Computer Uses
in Education. Cleveland State University, Cleveland Ohio December 16, 2000.
Bachelor of Science in Education, certification K12 – Developmentally
Handicapped. Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio June 10, 1994.
Associate of Applied Science in Early Childhood. Cuyahoga County Community
College-Eastern Campus. Warrensville Township Ohio August 1986.
Professional Standard Ohio Teaching Certificate expires June 2020.
2. I was employed with the Warrensville Heights City School District as an Intervention
Specialist from 1998-2014 As a veteran educator with 19 years of public school
experience, I can offer pre-service and developing educators guidance and practice skills
needed as they enter the career of education. Participating in the unique opportunity as a
NASA Explorer Teacher (2005-2008) in the field of aerospace education prompted me to
begin the process to earn a Doctorate of Education specializing in Leadership in
Educational Technology. I am confident that my skills and ongoing knowledge in special
education and educational technology will allow me to continue to share what I have
learned in an online education environment. I understand and can relate to the
individualistic needs of learners as a special educator and as an educator with a visual
disability.
My Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction, specializing in Educational
Technology along with my current training as a doctoral student at The University of
Phoenix-Online program is preparation for my career change outside of the classroom
setting. Currently, I attend the University of Phoenix Online, enrolled in the School of
Advanced Studies as a third-year doctoral student. My goal is to earn an advanced degree,
continuing my studies in Educational Technology. I intend to create educational software
specialized for special needs populations. It is also my goal to consult with school
districts with the implementation and usage of educational technology in underserved
populations. The preparation and advanced learning I am receiving at The University of
Phoenix has expanded my knowledge of alternative learning environments and multiple
ways of educating students and teachers to prepare for 21st century learning.
My academic studies at The University of Phoenix, as related to the specific
concentration in the field of Educational Technology includes the following coursework
required for the EDD/ET program. Currently I am 100% completed with coursework
with a current GPA of 3.45. I am revising my proposal submission for QRM and IRB
review. My dissertation that examines educator perceptions regarding technology use in
the classroom. Some of courses that I have completed are as follows:

EDT 722- Distance Learning
EDT 723- Instructional Media and Design Techniques

EDT 731- Systems Analysis and Design
EDT 732- Integrating Technology and Curriculum
I believe that my past experience in the field of Special Education has advanced my skills
and knowledge to become aware of the various ways that students learn and educators
must teach. I experienced the success of mentoring and assisting in the final
development of student teachers at Cleveland State University. I discovered that I
enjoyed providing my knowledge and expertise as a long time educator to pre-service
educators just beginning their careers. I re-discovered a new interest in curriculum
3. planning and instruction development, through as mentoring and guiding preservice
educators and peers. I look forward to using my abilities in an online setting. I am
confident that the wisdom of my experience and willingness to advance to uncharted
avenues in my career is something that I am willing to explore at this time in my life.
I can be reached by phone and email. I look forward to receiving your call and discussing
this opportunity with you.
Thank you for your consideration,
Alyson D. Frazier
