1. Cover Letter
I have interpersonal, collaborative, and organizational skills, as well as the educational and leadership
background necessary to be an effective teacher/leader in any school. I am confident that my professional
experience and educational background as an educator will contribute to your school and/or special
programs department.
In July, 2013, I moved to CO as to secure a teaching or leadership position in Colorado. I received the
CO licenses in Administration, Teaching, and Substituting in April of 2013. I’m also licensed-National
Board Certification for Professional Teaching Standards-Exceptional Needs Specialist.
Presently, I am fulfilling a one year teaching position (2015-2016) in the DSS Department at Pomona
High School, actively serving a number of students on my caseload with designated IEPs and co-teaching
in the Math and English departments.
I taught at Broughton International Baccalaureate High School in Raleigh, NC for a number of years.
Within the classroom, I developed an in-depth study skills program tailored to meet the core standards
and individual learning strategies for each student on my caseload. This plan was comprised of
educational procedures including informational literacy, self-direction, and use of the Internet to best
meet the student’s individual learning modality and grade level. Critical thinking and reasoning
encouraged the students to develop short and long term goals to be lifelong learners. I’ve had the pleasure
of having students on my caseload for the duration of their stay at each school fostering the
communication amongst student, teachers, family, and community.
In May, 2005, I graduated from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with a master’s degree in
school administration. I have passed the rigorous national licensure test, which permits me to be an
administrator in any state. During my second year at UNC, I had the opportunity to intern as an
elementary administrator in Wake County where I became familiar with the core standards, innovative
practices, and the expected indicators to evaluate peers and teachers. I evaluated many of the teachers
and participated in focus groups that helped students develop technical strategies for writing and literacy.
Student assessment and data analysis, coupled with the classroom computer information and
differentiated teaching, had been a part of Wake County for a number of years and continually helped the
teachers and the students evaluate individual student progress. I am enthusiastic about our future leaders.
What my resume cannot illustrate are the intangible qualities that set me apart from others. I have the
uncompromising view that all students can learn given a positive learning environment that welcomes
exploration and enhances student confidence. It is my belief that an educator’s mission is to be an
example and a conduit for learning. I believe I have the qualities that would further enhance the focus of
students as top priority.
I would welcome an opportunity to help lead/teach. I would be willing to help in any capacity as I have been in
education for a number of years and continue to experience the joy of working with students of all ages.
Sincerely,
Gloria D. Robinson
