2. ON OCTOBER 10TH, THE NEW MONTHLY
DEVELOPMENT SERIES WAS LAUNCHED.
Purpose:
Training and Development has conducted research and continues to conduct research
in order to determine what the most needed area of development is for our team
members. This Monthly Development Series has been created to address those areas
of development, while also encouraging the aspect of community through discussion
boards and your weekly meetings with your supervisor and team.
3. OUR GOAL
is to help develop you as individuals, as team
members, and as a department to ensure you
are as successful as possible so that you may
reach your personal and professional goals!
4. BUT WHY DOES IT
MATTER?
WE GET IT....
You're busy, you have a lot of calls, you don't feel like you have time for this.
The Monthly Development series was created to help YOU, grow YOU, and
push YOU. We truly believe that by completing AND implementing what you
learn from each Monthly Development, you will grow (which often means more
$$$).
Additionally, we are always looking to grow team members and promote from
within. By participating fully in each Monthly Development, you will not only
improve your performance, but show that you are willing to do what it takes to
develop yourself to be better for your team. You will be able to show hiring
managers that you are consistently seeking ways to grow and develop!
5. LOOKING TO THE
FUTURE
2023 IS THE YEAR WE
ESTABLISH A LEARNING
CULTURE.
Beginning in January, topics will shift to personal development.
- Personal goal setting
- Career pathways
- Personalized learning plans
- A year of working to change the culture here at Westgate when it comes to
learning
We want to see our team members collaborating with one another to be the best
version of themselves.
6. LAYOUT
TIMING
• Every month a topic will
be determined.
• Each week, for 2-3 weeks,
a new weekly course will
be released. Each course
will build upon what you
learned in the previous
week. It is important that
you complete the
course as soon as it
launches as you will
typically be given some
sort of assignment or
task to do throughout
GOALS
• Each month will have an
overall goal and each
weekly course will also
have a goal of its own. You
should strive to meet
these goals each week!
We also encourage you
to set your own goals!
COURSES
• These courses may
include discussion posts,
assignments, questions,
surveys, games, material
to read and/or watch, or
instructor led training. You
are expected to
complete each
component in its
entirety.
7. COLLABORATION
Each week, you will talk with your supervisor about
the Monthly Development topic. They will ask you
questions, provide you with feedback, and open
the door for you to reflect on the topic that month.
You’ll work with fellow team members to discuss
and reflect on the monthly development / weekly
topic.
8. PRIZES
We truly want to see you
improve and grow – but we
also want you to be rewarded
for your hard work! Besides
being entered into a raffle, you
will also have the chance to be
nominated and recognized by
your supervisor for showing
engagement, participation, and
a strong desire to grow and
learn. You will be featured on
our new Community Hub and
will be able to take one
extended lunch in the next
month.

Editor's Notes
We have looked through QA scans, we've looked at what customers are saying, we’ve looked at numbers, and we even utilized a survey back in the summer that team members filled out, indiciating what they wanted to learn more about. The topics we considered were topics that managers and supervisors indicated team members needed more training in.
