2. * There is a problem in time management in the
doctoral community. Despite attending introductory
and orientation courses, time management issues
are occurring. This problem has negatively
impacted the doctoral students because of stress,
poor organization, and productivity challenges. One
possible cause of this problem is the rigorous and
multiple demands of the doctoral degree. Potential
qualitative evidence found through research
investigations may produce causes of ineffective
time management and strategies to remedy the
situation.

Patricia“Multitasking is a terrible coping mechanism. A body of scientific evidence demonstrates fairly conclusively that multitasking makes human beings less productive, less creative, and less able to make good decisions.” (Dean, 2011)Some believe that multitasking can result in time wasted due to human context switching and apparently causing more errors due to insufficient attention.
PatriciAThis is the PAPES (Patte, Alex, Patricia, Elizabeth, and Sam) model. This model emphasizes the flow of time management in the doctoral community. There are six levels of the PAPES model:Situation. This is the event situation of this model.Influence. This discusses the outside influences that may contribute to the event.Consequences. There can be several consequences to each event and influence.Intervention. Results. The affects of the results.
PatteThere are several consequences towards skipping a stage from the 5 Stage Team Development Model. This slide displays that we skipped Stage 1 (“Forming”) from the 5 Stage Team Development Model and created these issues.
PatteThe implicit dynamics and processes discusses the implications on the conflicts a team may encounter.
AlexExplicit and Implicit in Team DynamicsThere are several tensions that might arise within a team. These tensions are described within this slide as the following:Different styles to brainstormingLack of structureGoal focused versus tangential membersOver-analysis of group dynamicsPerception of voice was distorted
