Work Experience
• Early Childhood Education Teacher: 2012 to present
Plans and implements activities that promote the social, physical, and intellectual growth of
children. Responsible for the care, hygiene, learning, and developmental activities,
specialized programs, and redirection of children. Communicates directly with parents and
supervisors. Maintains classroom records, cleanliness, and orderliness.
• Graduate Research Fellow- 2010-2012
2. Investigated two distinct research questions: (1) determined how the plant Arabidopsis
thaliana responds to elevated atmospheric carbon dioxide concentrations and (2) determined
the effect of behavior and population densities on the spatial distribution of black fly larvae
(Simlulium tribulatum) in freshwater streams.
• GeoKids NSF GK-12-L.I.N.K.S Graduate Fellow- 2010-2012
Participated in a fellowship program funded by the National Science Foundation in conjunction
with the Philadelphia School District and the Wagner Free Institute of Science. This program
uses a curriculum designed to instill the excitement of learning science into elementary school
classrooms. Responsibilities include teaching lesson plans and implementing interdisciplinary-
focused experiments geared toward science in everyday life
• SJU Summer Scholar Undergraduate Research Fellow- 2009
Conducted an independent research project focused on identifying novel Quantitative Trait Loci
(QTL) in the plant Arabidopsis thaliana controlling changes in flowering at elevated [CO2] while
also investigating which QTL controls the response of seed production and plant architecture
under elevated [CO2].
• Teaching Assistant in Department of Biology- 2008-2010
Tutored and assisted students individually or in small groups in order to help reinforce the
learning concepts that were presented in class. Responsible for lab setup and breakdown each
week. Courses included Organismic Biology, Plant Ecology Physiology, Human Physiology, and
Histology.
