Research 1 conventions
1. Codes and Conventions
This power point is to show the different codes and
conventions of a music magazines front cover, context page
and the double spread.
2. Front Cover
The masthead is in the top left and is red with a white Q in the
middle of it. This would help it stand out a lot due to it having more
engaging colours that attract attention.
As well as this, Ed sheeran is in the middle of the magazine. This
shows that the magazine is based on Ed Sheeran and also would
pursuade more Ed Sheeran fans who enjoy his music genre to buy
the magazine.
The title “the stories of the year” could link to Ed Sheerans songs. Ed
Sheeran has been heard of involving his music with life.
In the image of the musician Ed Sheeran, there is a guitar resting on
his knees and in his hands. This tells the reader that Ed Sheeran
plays the guitar in his songs. This also links to his genre of music. By
having the guitar there you can tell he has more of a calming
romantic music genre.
On the magazines front cover it has the words “an everyday tale of
one man, his guitar and a global superstardom…” this intreges the
reader to buy the magazine because its making out like the
magazine is like a story of how Ed Sheerans road to becoming
famous.
3. Contents Page
This is the context page of a music magazine. From the heading
“amplified” I can tell this music magazine is a rock magazine and
has a Rock genre.
From the images in the page containing electric guitars It
emphasizes that the magazine is a rock magazine. This is because
electric guitars and usually involved with the Rock genre.
On the left side of the page It has names of bands inside the
magazine and shows what page they are on. This would make it
easier for the reader to find what they are looking for in the
magazine.
4. Double Page Spread
This is a double page spread, the image is spread over 2 pages and is a picture of peter
cooper. In peter coopers hands is a guitar and the colours in the background are darker red
and brown colours. This all links into Peter Cooper being a country singer and song writer.
The heading “Cooperstown” is highlighted in a darker red to blend in with the background.
The writing on the double page spread is separated into 3 equal sized paragraphs making it
easier for the reader to read.
