To connect two virtual machines and an internal network, configure the network adapters in VirtualBox settings to the desired network, log into one machine as root and run ifconfig to view network settings, then manually edit the rc.inet1.conf file on both machines by setting the IP addresses, netmask, and USEDHCP to no to connect them to the internal network.

• Open the settings for the machines, and edit the network tab. We
want to change the network adapter to the following :

• Once logged on, run the ifconfig command. It should appear like this :

do this we need to go to the /etc/rc.d directory.
• Once here run ‘ls’ . You will see many files. We want to edit one in
particular : ‘rc.inet1.conf’. This is the network configuration file for
‘inet1’.
• To configure : run ‘vim rc.inet1.conf’
• Find the ‘config information for eth0:’ section ( line 16 )
• Set IPADDR[0] to : ’10.0.2.11’
• Set NETMASK[0] to : ‘255.255.255.0’
• Set USEDHCP[0] to ‘NO’

6. • Edit rc.inet1.conf on both machines. SET DHCP TO NO!
• Give them the ip address : 10.0.2.12 (RED), 10.0.2.11 (BLUE)
• Reboot the systems.
