Florida International University - Instructor Dr. Kevin Boutsen
- Designed, using SolidWorks, a Formula 1 front wing including nosecone, endplates, upper/lower flaps, and pylons.
- Prepared the 3D CAD model for a Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulation using ANSYS Fluent. This included optimizing
the model using ANSYS DesignModeler and ANSYS Mesh to create an air enclosure, symmetry planes, inlets/outlets, and mesh
inflation layers.
- Modified the original front wing to improve the aerodynamic features such as downforce, drag, static pressure, and velocity
magnitude based on the ANSYS Fluent analysis and assistance from instructor Dr. Kevin Boutsen.
