1. EVALUATION ACTIVITY 3
What kind of media
institution might distribute
your media product and
why?
2. Why are production companies
important?
Production companies promote and enable small
or independent film makers to create their
productions.
A production company is in control
of the production of media, e.g.
films, music or games. They
commonly fund the production and
control the advertising of the film
through trailers or adverts.
3. Moonshine Productions
We chose the word ‘Moonshine’ for two reasons:
• Firstly, it has almost mystical connotations and
the moon is used in many werewolf horrors
and the word ‘Lunatic’ comes from the phrase
‘Lunar ticks’ – implying odd behaviour in
moon-light.
• Secondly, the drink ‘Moonshine’ is an alcoholic
beverage which is known to create ‘out-of-
body’ experiences which is what our
protagonist has.
4. Distributors –
A film distributor is a company which is
responsible for the release of the production. To
either cinemas in the form of trailers or in the full-
motion picture.
5. How would my production be
funded?
My production would likely to be
funded through funds from
previous productions, fundraisers,
loans or a investor in the film.
6. Names in titles -
Actors names are used in titles to widen the
intended audience. As many actors are known
specifically to a certain type of film. For example:
Bruce Willis stars in action films, and
often plays police type characters who
have an enemy to capture or kill. E.g;
Die Hard (1,2,3,4), Sin City, Hostage
etc.
If the audience see that Bruce Willis is
starring in a production, they would
assume it is an action film, and this
could widen the target audience.
