The document provides a design task summary for an app called "What To Wear" that helps users decide what to wear each day by suggesting outfit combinations. The app would allow users to upload photos of their clothes and receive daily recommendations that avoid recent combinations. Users could also create their own outfits, organize clothes by category in a virtual wardrobe, view past outfits, and request approval on outfits from friends. The design proposes features, interface screens, and follows material design guidelines to create a simple and easy-to-use mobile app experience.

1. Design Task summary
Objective: Objective: To create a concept for an imaginary product “what to wear” that helps user to decide what to wear
every day.
About the Product: What To Wear suggests saves you from staring at your wardrobe every single day wondering what to
wear; it suggests you shirt and trousers to wear every day. What To Wear is smart and remembers the combination you have
chosen for the day and will not suggest you this combination for at least a week based on the items. All you need to do is
click pics of your shirts and trousers. You can also seek your friends’ approval using What To Wear.
Process: In this summary I have tried to briefly explain my design choices.
1.PERSONAS AND USE CASES
* I have used a scenario of a general female user but this can be easily extended to male users as well.

2. 2. FEATURE LIST FOR APP
Based on the user requirement we can generate a set of features that will be essential in the app. Things to note here is that
 The user has an extremely busy life style so he/she needs quick recommendations
 He/she is conscious about his/her outfit so he/she needs rotation of outfits.
 Needs recommendation from friends and family about the outfits ( especially on special occasions)
 This will be a mobile app only as the mobile is something that stays with user all the time and this application is
personal. (Obvious choice)
Features needed in the app:
1. Easy Login options- Login through Google or Facebook is sufficient as this a personal application.
2. To add clothes to the app user can either click the photos or use an existing one from the phone.
3. Clothes can be added in custom wardrobe collections (My Wardrobe feature) such as office, weekend, party etc. This
helps the user to pick from a specific category rather than going through entire list of clothes.
4. Recommendation of outfit for the day.
5. Option for user to create their own combination of outfit.
6. App remembers the combination user wore on a particular day and will not suggest it for a week.
7. Users can view their created and already wore outfits in the wardrobe section.
8. Favorites a particular outfit combination.
9. Associate a look: When user wears a particular combination of outfit suggested by the app, the user can also save a
picture of himself/herself on with the outfit and associate it with the combination. In this way user can review how
they looked in a particular outfit.
10. User can send quick request to other friends through the app regarding the recommendation about the outfit.
* I have explained these feature in details below.

3. 3. FEATURES EXPLANATION
1. Today’s Recommendation
 Users are greeted with the outfit recommendation for the day when they first login
to the app.
 The app automatically generates a few combination of trousers and shirts for the
day.
 User can choose to go with the recommended options by clicking the Wear It button.
 If the user choose to go with the recommended option, the app remembers this
combination and will not show it atleast for a week.
 It may also happen the user don’t like the suggested combination so she can create
her own combination by clicking Create new Button.
 The home screen is kept clean and minimalistic in look as the user don’t have much
time and he needs only glance able information.
2. Create Outfit
 Users have freedom to create their own outfit combination if they don’t like the app
suggested outfit.
 In this option user is presented with two sliders on for shirts (above) and other for
the trousers (below).
 They can slide through the various combination and can finalize the combination by
aligning the shirt and trouser they like inside the pink box.
 After the combination is done user can hit the green tick box and the app will
remember this combination for that day.

4. 3. My Wardrobe
 Here I have taken inspiration from a physical wardrobe or closet. Just like you can
organize your clothes in your closet similarly you can organize your clothes in your
virtual closet of the app.
 User can organize their clothes (shirts and trousers) depending upon their usage,
brand, type etc.
 User can separate office clothes from their party clothes.
 They can even manage their clothes for an upcoming trip or unwashed clothes etc.
by this feature.
 This feature allows user to search/sort quickly their outfits and even let them create
outfits from a particular set.
 User can add more categories by clicking the + button.
3.1. Category Details (My Wardrobe > offce > clothes)
 Here is a detailed view when you click on a particular category in the My Wardrobe
section. This has two more sub section Clothes and Lookbook.
 In this section I have explained the clothes section.
 Here user can view all of their clothes in a particular category. For example all the
clothes that has been categorized as Office can be viewed here.
 From this menu the user can directly add clothes in that particular category by
clicking on the bottom right floating pink button.
 The floating button expands to give an option for either clicking an image or
choosing from photos on their phone.
 User can also mark favorites to clothes they like.

5. 3.2. Category Details (My Wardrobe > offce > Lookbook)
 This sub-section is called Lookbook.
 This section keeps the outfit combination that you wore earlier so that you can easily
browse through them later.
 You can also click pictures of yourself in an outfit (like the 2nd
picture on the app
screen ) and save them here, so that you can see how you looked in a particular
combination.
 You can also link your picture in an outfit with its app generated combination for
easy referencing.
 It is much easier to ask people for approval by sending them directly your photo in an
outfit combination rather than having them to imagine you in a dress combination. So
this Lookbook feature comes handy here.
4. My Photos
 This section is called My Photos.
 You can add new photos of your clothes to the app by either clicking it directly or
uploading from an already saved one from your phone.
 The floating camera button redirects to the native camera app on the user’s phone
and once done it redirects back to the app. Same functionality with the floating image
button.
 You can also search any outfit here by its name or tag or type or wardrobe.

6.
4.1. Add Clothes
The user is prompted to this screen once he clicks/upload pic of his clothes.
Here user can add details of the photos which help him/her to search it easily or
categorize it easily.
User can provide a name, the wardrobe section it will go in, tags such as brand name,
or material of cloth etc. and finally the type of cloth as in, if it’s a trouser or a short.
This information helps the app to organize and recommend a combination of the
outfit.
5. Approval Request
 In this section user can send or receive recommendation/approval request
regarding an outfit to/from friends.
 User can send a particular outfit from the lookbook section with a short
message regarding that outfit to a friend.
 The message sent will contain users profile pic thumbnail, his/her message
and the outfit combination selected.
 To make it easy for users, they can respond to request by clicking directly on
the Thumbs up or thumbs down button. To let the other person know whether they
like it or not.
 In addition to sending quick thumbs up or down, they can also add a short
note from the panel at the bottom.
 This feature works like the photos on Facebook where people can like your
photo and also add a comment.
 I have tried to make this feature short and less time consuming as our target
user is usually busy and needs quick resolution but this feature can be extended to a
chat like feature.

7. 4. Additional Feature Recommendation
While I have mentioned my design choices for the features that are necessary for a simple app like What to Wear, I would
also like to address some additional features that I think can enhance the experience with the app.
 Option to add accessories like jewelry, shoes, boot etc.
 Adding a calendar feature to preplan outfits for future dates.
 Adding a feature which lets user to set particular categories for few fixed days on a week (just like a standard alarm
for weekdays). For example the user has usually work on weekdays so he can set weekdays to Office categories on
the Wardrobe section so that app shows him/her combination only from the Office category.
 Adding option to directly share user’s picture on his/her social media accounts. This will enhance the retention of
users on the app.
 Extending the approval feature to chat as I mentioned in the previous section.
5. Design Cues
 Google’s Material Design guidelines has been followed for the preparation of mockups of the app.
 Font used for the app mockup is Roboto Regular and Roboto Medium.
 Color pallet has been used from the Material design color pallet.
 Shades of deep Purple ( #673AB7, #7e57c2) and Pink (#ff4081 ) has been used as the color scheme which is often
associated with Royal clothing line. This is an app for clothes outfit suggestion hence the choice.
* I have tried my best to clearly explain my design choices and ideas in this summary for the task I have been provided
with. I am also attaching a few rough wireframes (paper mockups) that I used while brainstorming the ideas and
mockups of the app in a separate zip folder.
