Lewis chronicling the
real Oher’s experiences,
this film manages to
inspire despite its
broad-strokes approach
to characterization.
- S. Jhoanna Robledo
(Common Sense
Media) *
Bullock delivers a
towering performance
that grabs the movie
and the Oscar race by
the scruff of the neck.
You will be moved, but
at the price of any
nuance or complexity.

9. CRITIQUE
1. Strength: Focus on more aspects of
life. Although the movie is about sport, it
doesn’t really focus only in sport but also
focus on the background story of Michael
Oher.
Weakness: A lot of background
information about Michael Oher’s
success are left out due to the short
duration of the movie.
2. Michael Oher’s character was too aloof
as he barely said a word throughout the
movie. The real personality of Michael
Oher in real life is quite the opposite
from the drama. Quinton Aaron should
have portrayed Michael Oher’s character
more like the real life.
OVERALL IMPACT
+ POSITIVE IMPACT
The movie inspires people to achieve
their dream despite of any difficulties
faced along the journey. Nothing is
impossible with never-ending hard work
and support from the people around us.
- NEGATIVE IMPACT
The movie might be interpreted wrongly
as it involves two different races. It is
criticize as presenting a white savior for a
black African-American male, Michael
Oher who’s unable to overcome poverty
and personal failure without the
guidance from a white mother, Tuohy.
