4. Data collection
Info. Adhub. Collects device information-
When you use a samsung service that includes ads provided by Adhub. Adhub
receives certain information about our device. This information may include the
device’s hardware model, IMEI number and other unique device identifiers, mac
address, ip address operating system version, settings
To use it efficiently, Samsung -Tesco constructed the ERP system to integrated all
information within one system .for this reason, the new ERP system had to cover
all processes from demand forecasting to accounting. The new ERP system was
designed to be added on to pre-existing system.
What information they collect from us?
1)some information we provide directly....
For example-billing address, credit card information, name, contact information,
certain information we give by our self-email address, while creating a Samsung
account and booking order. Etc
2)information about us through the use of services
they may collect information about us by use of our own phone services through
software on their device and other means such as-device, log, location, voice
information, etc.
3)information from third party sources
they collect info from publicly and commercially available sources (as law) from
social networking services when we choose to connect with those services.
How do they use it?
1)to register us on our device for a service
2)to provide service or feature you request
3)for advertising and promotions
4)for assessment and analysis of our market, customers, products and services etc
5)to provide maintenance services for your device..
5. Data storage
As we know Samsung has always been in the news for it development in its data
storage field and its privacy. There is a reason why it is among the most favourable
and trusted companies around the world.
Samsung has always maintained its position among the top most companies by ice
catching news headlines such as:
“Samsung begins man production of the fastest storage for flagship smartphones.”
“Samsung announces new NAND flash facility to address future data centre and
mobile demands.”
“Samsung announces industries first ever DRAM with shipment of first million
models.”
“Samsung begins man’s production of industries for 16GB LPPDR5 RAM for next
generation premium smartphones”
“Samsung to advance high performance computing system with launch of
industries 1st
3rd
generation 16GB HBM2E.”
“Samsung releases portable SSD T7touch the new standard in speech and security
for external storage devices.”
“Samsung electronics takes 3D memory to new heights with 6 generation VNAND
SSDs for client computing.”
“Samsung begins mass producing industries first 16GB and 64GB DDR41MM.”
“Samsung introduces 1.2ym 50mp ISOCELL 9NI with faster autofocusing and
brighter images.”
And so on, which tells us that Samsung has always been ahead of its time in its data
storage and its privacy's matter.
6. Data Analysis
In this current scenario all the associated companies regardless of any industry are
gradually becoming data analytics and IT companies so Samsung as a company
spending more and more time on analysing data and trends because it makes it
much easier to make decisions and as decisions are data driven, they are more
accurate and can help avoid a lots of mistakes done in past years. If you want to
run a business in current infrastructure you have to more relay on numbers than
on facts. And like other competitors Samsung also follows nearly the same
approach in their data analysis process.
In fact, Samsung has a special business intelligence team for analysis of business-
related data their sole purpose is to study the figures and trends from the past
years as well from the rivalry companies to change or adopt things that can be help
it to outstand Samsung in this competitive world. Like Samsung smartphone
industries adopted smart watch ideas as well as slim design from the apple
companies and this strategy gives a great result when considering the sales figure.
For data analysis Samsung adopted some new technologies like MATLAB and
matplot lib for data visualization along with some traditionally used technologies
like spreadsheet and excel sheet. The adaptation to new technologies helps in
better understanding of data with a much clearer visualization. Now days
visualization becomes the first language of analytics and vastly used as
contemporary analytics along with it, Samsung has a BI team that makes data
simpler to understand. The main motivation to constructing these separate unit to
remove the dependencies from the database and IT teams.
For example, Let Samsung has to release a new phone in the market so it is up to
the business team to suggest what minimum features need to be assemble in the
phone and what to discard also they have to decide a market price for their phone.
So there includes a lot of variables with in it to be considered before manufacturing
like the number of cameras, camera quality, preferred ram and storage and such
more things. But for that the business team needs the data of market demands,
status of its rivalry companies and the sale performance of previous models. But all
7. the data are stored at the IT department. That makes the business team dependent
on the IT department that can cause a massive effect on the production.
But with visualization now the business teams have all the visuals and can take
decision based on these visualizations Without INVOLVING THE IY DEPARTMENT
and without having the knowledge of database. For data visualization the tools
used by Samsung are Qlik products like QlikView and Qlik sense also it uses a self-
service integration in which data are integrated on a real time-based scenario
which can be easily available for visualization in the visualization layer. Everything
is managed in such a way that data are always available and well-analysed with
visualization tools. Like bookmarks and constant reports, but the greatest values lie
in the fact that you can select a given areas and view it from various perspective
and explore it deeply to understand this data better.
Also, Samsung follows a customized aspect of data visualization means data should
be available but not everything for everyone. Like a product manager has different
needs than an account manager. So the level of information that a person would
like to have varies in scope and in details as a result Samsung also have a variety of
tools to meet these needs.
Nearly all the areas are benefited by data analysis but the biggest beneficiary is
usually the sales department as they need to analyse their data daily and mainly
quantitative basis. Like if you analyse the price from the point of view of how
market trends to their data and other factors like supply chain you can use it for
boost up your sales.
8. Data Dissemination
Samsung is a South Korean multinational company. It’s headquarter is in District of
Suwon. Samsung is a major manufacturer of electronic components such as
lithium-ion batteries, semiconductors, image sensors, camera, and displays for
clients such as Apple, Sony, HTC, and Nokia.
The company focuses on four areas: digital media, semi-conductor,
telecommunication network and LCD digital appliances.
Samsung says it has developed technology that could sit “at the core of 5G”-the
successor to the 4G mobile –communications standard.
The company says its equipment is capable of transmitting data at more than
1Gbps across a distance of up to 2km (1.2 miles). It suggests the tech would
eventually allow users to stream ultra –high- definition video while on the move.
However, one expert says the news needs to be put in context.
Professors who heads up the University of Surrey’s 5G research efforts- suggests
that even if the latest development was used, it would only be “a small part of
the larger jigsaw” of technologies needed to deliver 5G.
His words carry weight since his own 35m project to develop a 5G standard is part
funded by Samsung.
Magnetic Secure Transmission is an advanced technology that helps power
Samsung Pay. It generates a magnetic signal similar to that of a traditional payment
card when swiped, providing the added convenience of being able to pay quickly
on the go without having to reach for your wallet.
Accepted at nearly payment terminals with the card reader, MST technology is a
very convenient and is even more secure than traditional methods of payment card
Samsung Pay also support NFC payments.
One key aspect of dissemination-based applications is their inherent
communications asymmetry. That is, the communication capacity or data volume
in the downstream direction is much greater than that in the upstream direction.
9. Content delivery is an asymmetric process regardless of whether it is performed
over a symmetric channel such as the internet or over as asymmetric one, such as
cable television network. Techniques and system architectures that can efficiently
support asymmetric applications will therefore be a requirement for future use.
Data Delivery Mechanisms can be classified into:
1. Push based Mechanisms- The server pushes data records from a set of disturbed
computing systems. Examples are advertisers or generators of traffic congestion,
weather reports, stock quotes, and news reports.
2. Pull based Mechanisms-The user device or computing system pulls the data
records from the service providers applications database server or from a set of
disturbed computing systems.
3. Hybrid Mechanisms-It’s integrates pushes and pull mechanisms.
SELECTIVE TUNING AND INDEXING TECHNIQUES
It’s further classified into:
1. DIRECTORY METHOD
2. HASH BASED METHOD
3. INDEX BASED METHOD
4. DISTRIBUTED INDEX BASED METHOD
5. FLEXIBLE INDEXING METHOD
ALTERNATIVE METHODS:
1. TEMPORAL ADDRESSING
2. BROADCAST ADDRESSING
