KUZHA. KATHIRESAN (PROPREITOR OF AINTHINAI PATHIPPAGAM)
Kuzha . Kathiresan is a dedicated writer and publisher of children’s books. A native of
Rayavaram in Pudukkottai district has also simplified Sangam Literature (Pathuppaatu,
Paalaikkali and Paripadal) in poetry form.

Merits:
Thousands of poems written for the children belonging to the age group of 5 to 16 years.
3. Research works in the topics “Kathiresan’s contribution to Tamil literature”, “kathiresan’s
contribution in improving child’s mentality” and “Kathiresan’s format for writing children’s
literature”hasbeendone bythe M.Phil students of Madras University and Madurai University.
Research has been done by the Ph.D student from Thiruvannamalai on the book “Neruppuk
koppulam”
Six people have presentedarticlesinthe variousTamil conferencesentitled“ResearchonKuzha.
Kathiresan’s poetry”
By means of Central Institute of Indian language some of the poems have been translated in
Hindi, Malayalam, Gujarati, Bengali and Telugu language.
Some of the poems in “Yeli Kaditha Puunai” has been translated in Russian, Polish and
Czechoslovakian language.
Poems in three children books (Thoppai Kozhi , Mazhalai Pookal and Mazhalai Arumubu ) has
been translated in Malayalam by Paiyanoor Baskaran and in Hindi by Ramanujam.
Doordarshan and Radio station has broadcasted many poems.
Could sing all the poems rhythmically.
Writing poems from 1970.
Some of the poems in “Yeli Kaditha Puunai” has been kept as a text for seventh (1980-87,yeli
kadhitha punnai poem), second and third standard students by Tamilnadu Text book society,
Karnataka university and in Singapore respectively. In Tamilnadu, poetry books has been kept
has a text for LKG / UKG students in most of the schools.
The poem“seymikkaveyndum”fromthe book“yeli kaditha poonai” has been kept as a text for
seventh standard students (from the year 1980 onwards) by Tamilnadu Text book society.
One of the poem from the book “Paatu Mazhai” has been kept as a text in school by Kerala
Government(4th
standard from 2004), Mysore ( 2nd
standard), Singapore (3rd
standard).

famous matriculation schools)
Has been invited to attend conferences in Chennai, Thanjavur and Madurai to write poetries
there. The poetries written there have been translated to Hindi, Gujarthi, Bengal, Telugu and
Malayalam by the “Central Institute of Indian Languages” and has been published in Mysore.
Has participatedin the conference organized by the Kerala Government and has presented on
the topic“Science forChildren”andthat presentationhasbeen included in Kerala Government
literature collection book.
In Moscow,Leninlibrary,the book“Yeli KadithaPoonaoi”isavailable.Some of the poemsinthis
book have been translated by the Research scholars in the following languages: Russia,
Czechoslovakia, and Polish in 1980.
In the conference organizedby“Annamalai UniversityandCentral Instituteof Indianlanguages”,
written short stories for children and has been translated in to Hindi, English and Malayalam
languages.
In the audio release of the movie made for children(Vannathu Poochi), “Udirippookal
Director– Mahendranand directorC.Alagappan” he has been awardedacertificate praisingthe
services rendered in the field of Childrens Literature.
In the conference organizedbyMadrasUniversity – Tamil DepartmentandAsiancultural society
in Jan 2000 - presented on the topic “Poetry for children”.
The poem “Thambiyai kaanavillai” written in Mysore, has been kept as a text for second
standard students there.
Mr. Minoor Seenevasan has met a Hindi kid at Mumbai zoo and was surprised that the kid has
shared the same content that has been written in the poem “Mayil” by Mr. Kuzha. Kathiresan.
“Somasundara Aagama Panpaatu Kazhakagam” has honoured him with the award and also
honoured him with the cash prize of Rs.1000 for his book in Sangam Literature “Paripaadalil
Thirumaal Paadalgal”
