1. TEACHER TRAINING PROGRAMMES ORGANIZED
Conducted a 3-day Teacher-Training Programme for Teachers of Montfort Boys Higher
Secondary School, Yercaud and the Sacred Heart Girls High School, Yercaud on
"Innovations in Classroom Teaching Technology".(February 22nd to 24th, 1991)
Conducted a one-month Refresher Course for the Teachers of Sri Akilandeswari
Vidyalaya, Hr Sec School, Mamazasalai, Trichy (Affiliated to the Central Board of
Secondary Education-New Delhi) for one month on Innovations in Teaching Technology
in General.(May 3rd to 31st, 1997)
Conducted a six month “Spoken English Course” for the Teachers of Sri Akilandeswari
Vidyalaya Hr Sec School, Mamazasalai, Trichy (Affiliated to the Central Board of
Secondary Education - New Delhi) from June to December 1997.
Conducted a one-day creative workshop for Teachers of Local State Board Schools on
“Advertisements: An effective Teaching Tool for Classroom Purposes.”On December 5th,
1995.
MAJOR CONTRIBUTIONS / SERVICES - ACADEMIC / EXTENSION /
COMMUNITY:
Inaugurated The English Literary Association of St Joseph’s College (Autonomous)
Trichy-2 on Oct 12th 1979 and delivered a special lecture on Shakespearean Drama titled:
“Character is Destiny”
Dr Pink held various port folios as Staff Hostel Secretary, Fine Arts in Charge, Librarian
for the Post Graduate Dept. of English, Head, Vocational English Training (1978-2000).
Dr. Pink has been a major force and prime contributor to:
a) Framing the B.A. and M.A. Literature Syllabus for Poetry and Prose, Feminist
Literature, Common Wealth Literature; and creating the Bridge Course for Gen.
English Students.
b) Framing the B.A & M.A. Journalism and Mass Communication and Common Wealth
Literature.
c) Updating and modernizing the autonomous syllabus which is currently in use in Holy
Cross College Trichy (1999-2003).
2. Dr Pink initially served as a team member for the National Assessment and Accreditation
Council, Bangalore, while it was being implemented at Holy Cross College in 1998, after
which she served as NAAC Coordinator at Nirmala College for Women, Coimbatore from
2000-2010, having been the lead auditor of the college and leading the staff upfront in
accreditation of the college twice with an ‘A Grade’, each time the CGP rising to a higher
level from December 1998 – present (a total of 18 years) Dr Pink continues to serve as a
quality expert member of NAAC to assess the quality of higher education in colleges.
Dr Pink was solely instrumental in initiating and teaching on the UGC sponsored
‘Vocational English’ skill- based training programme in Holy Cross College, Trichy, for 7
years and collaborating ‘Journalistic Skills’ with ‘ELT Skills’. (1993-2000)
Convener, Community Service –Adoption of Chinthamani Village, at Holy Cross College,
Trichy -2. Dr Pink was responsible for planning the entire outreach programme, motivating
and training students to reach out to the villagers and support the basic literacy education
programme. Dr. Pink introduced micro projects like ‘The Health -Hygiene Programme’,
‘The Family Planning Programme’; ‘the Each – One – Teach – One Programme’, ‘The
Street Children Project’, ‘The Kitchen Garden Grow Green Project’, ‘The Adult Literacy
Programme’, ‘Avoid Alcohol Programme’, under the Adult Mission Programme for
National Literacy Mission (1978 – 1982 )
Dr Pink’s ‘Educational Journalism’ Project: “The College Magazine as an Educational
Tool” a study she presented for her Post Graduate diploma in Journalism, informed heads
of institutions that the college magazine serves as a link between the college and the society
at large and was in itself a kind of accountability, served as an eye–opener for many
institutional heads that did not invest in a college journal.
Dr Pink is an excellent public speaker and has delivered the Key -note address at various
National and International Seminars and Conferences.
Served as Examiner at the Bharathidasan University for central evaluation and confidential
work of the university from 24-11-1997 to 02-12-1997; and again from 14-12 1998 to 24-
12 1998.
Delivered the keynote address in the International Conference on “Post-War American
Fiction” at St Dominic’s College, Kanjeerapalli, Kerala (18.03 to 20.03.1999).
3. As staff secretary Dr Pink was responsible for introducing a Staff Union (AUT) at Holy
Cross College for Women, Trichy, for the first time in 1999, championing the cause of
‘Freedom from Fear’ with the whole hearted agreement of the management.
Acted as a Member in the Committee to suggest norms for M.Phil /Ph.D. admission in
Bharathidasan University, Trichy. Served as Convener of the Committee to restructure
guidelines for the award of University Research Fellowships in Bharathidasan University.
Conducted under the banner of the Fine Arts club / Cultural – Literary Pageants, Mock
Advertisements competitions, Building Vocabulary Competitions like ‘Call –My –Bluff’;
‘Footnotes’(a spontaneous dance competition), was Quiz Master at various inter college
competitions quiz competitions with the objective of tapping the energy of the youth to
keep them intellectually engaged and active.
