companies understand the complexities of conducting
business in these countries. BSA however was quick
to realize the potential of these markets and since its
establishment, has invested heavily in developing the
unique skill-sets necessary to address the logistic,

In addition to its exceptional capabilities and willingness
to serve customers in war-torn countries, BSA has
enjoyed a great deal of success in mature markets

9. Key Customer Successes
BSA has an established track record in building
broadcast infrastructure solution for customers from the
ground up. The company’s portfolio of strong customer
references include challenging undertakings in conflict
regions as well as complex deployments in mature
markets.
Libya Al Ahrar Project:
Popularly known as Libya TV, Libya Al Ahrar is a news
channel that was launched by Libya’s ex-information
Minister and journalist, Mahmud Shammam, during the
revolution in the country.
Together with its Qatar-based partner Gulf Media
(GMCO), BSA played a vital role in the establishment
of Libya Al Ahrar and its subsequent transformation
into a fully digital television network. Thanks to the
expert guidance and rapid project implementation, the
TV channel was capable of providing coverage of the
country’s elections.
Being an ambitious start-up venture, BSA initiated the
project by advising Libya Al Ahrar on how to build studios
in the country for its news and related programming.
All aspects of this roll out were expertly managed and
facilitated by BSA.
In addition to leveraging its core technical capabilities
to install permanent satellite uplink facilities from Tripoli,
Benghazi and Masrata and the setup of 12 Digital
Satellite News Gathering (DSNG) vans, BSA had to
accommodate for unique requirements of the project.
These included leasing satellite segments for occasional
broadcast on Arabsat and Eutelsat; and dedicating
extensive time and effort to identifying and hiring local
resources and training them to manage HD production
equipment.
For the channel’s main production facility, BSA
delivered a hanger setup which was completed in just
22 days. This involved steel work, sandwich panels,
acoustics, painting, power and meeting all infrastructure

10. requirements. The company also equipped the facility
with 42 air conditioning unites and a 150 kVA generator
and UPS system for reliable 7/24 operations. In all,
16 Sony HD camera kits were deployed for the entire
project and four Non-Linear Editing (NLE) and GFX
rooms were built.
BSA also supervised the setup of the channel’s studio in
Benghazi. Design and lighting, configuring the AV, vision
and sound mixers, camcorders, CCU, CG, VTR, racks,
consoles, monitors, lighting, cables, and other studio
accessories were all organised under the BSA banner.
Al Aan FM Libya
Despite the turmoil in the country during the revolution,
BSA efficiently facilitated the establishment of six FM
radio transmission points in Tripoli, Benghazi, Sabha,
Masrata, Nalut, and Albayda. These enabled Al Aan
FM to successfully relay its feed via satellite to over
3.7 million listeners in all the major metropolitan cities
in Libya.

11. Alwasat Radio Libya:
The company also handed over the completed
installation for another Libyan radio station, Alwasat
Radio, recently. The project involved installation of
3.5kw transmitters in three radio transmission sites in
Benghazi, Albayda and Tubruq.
AL AAN FM Syria:
BSA also undertook the deployment of Eight FM radio
transmitters in Syria to ensure the successful launch of
Al Aan’s radio service in the war-ravaged country.
SNG Services Syria
Tower Media Middle east was one of the first Companies
to transmit live from within the borders of war-torn Syria
and began its broadcasts at a time when all other
Opraters were operating from border crossings. While
the TMME team was fully mobile, its crew was limited to
working from within the free areas.
BSA provided TMME crew with two fully equipped
Satellite News Gathering (SNG) vans for use in Idlib and
Aleppo, as well as two cameras and full fly-away kits
to ensure backup was available. The crew were also
provided with microphones, a tape player, spotlights
and Thuraya satellite phones for communicating
between team members. With the consultancy and
support of BSA, the team uplinked their broadcasts via
Arabsat, using Thuraya IP for internet access.
F1 Fanzoon
BSA has been screening the Formula One live in the
UAE capital, Abudhabi, for the past four years. The F1
is relayed on HD multi-screens.
