This year, Discover France celebrates 20 years offering high-value, self-guided bicycle and multisport itineraries. Having specialized in travel throughout France for the last two decades, Discover France branches out this year with 15 new tours in a total of 10 European countries (France, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Czech Republic, Germany, Austria, Croatia, Holland, Belgium) and 2 new tours in Sonoma Valley, California.
2. Experiential Cycling, Hiking, Multisport Tours in France… and Beyond
For the past 20 years, Discover France has been perfecting the art
of self-guided adventure. Inspired by the spirit and wanderlust
of independent travelers, our itineraries go off the beaten track,
allowing for deep, authentic moments.
Customizable according to your timing, fitness, interests and
appetites, our trips offer the ultimate affordable vacation for
couples, families and groups of friends. No matter if your passion
lies in investigating the architecture, gastronomy and wine—or
simply the gorgeous landscapes en route—we make sure that you
have an unforgettable time.
3. Many New Destinations in 2014
We are pleased to announce that we have expanded our reach
into 10 more countries this year.
With 17 new itineraries, travelers may discover the remarkable
geography, markets, lakes, beaches, vineyards, castles and fortresses
along the most exquisite routes of Italy, Spain, Croatia, Czech Republic/
Austria/Germany, Switzerland, Holland/Belgium and California.
And just like our French trips—which cover ten regions from Alsace
to Provence—these vacations offer the opportunity to get far more
than just a snapshot to take home; they offer an experience in true
cultural immersion that stays with you for a lifetime.
4. Self-Guided Itineraries
Twenty years ago, Discover France pioneered the art of self-guided
travel, which means we have had a lot of time to streamline every
little logistical detail to make your trip absolute perfection.
Self-guided travel offers travelers tremendous freedom, flexibility,
and independence—all without the hassle of having to plan and
strategize the route. That’s our job. So you travel on your own
terms, while knowing that we provide support anywhere and at
any time along the way.
5. What is a Self-Guided Trip?
Each of our self-guided cycling, hiking or multi-sport trip is a
complete and affordable vacation, tailored specifically for active,
independent and curious travelers who demand exceptional value
and flexibility.
Here are some of essential details:
• Travelers choose the dates of travel
• Geared for small groups of friends or family, typically 2 to 10 people
• The routes are meticulously planned by our expert staff
• Bikes are serviced in-house; are never more than two years old
• In-person orientation, routebook, map, high-tech GPS included
• Daily luggage transfers are included
• All plans are completely customizable
• A choice of hotel options fit each different budgets
• Access to local support and emergency services 24/7
6. Guided Tours
Guests looking for a more structured itinerary will appreciate
spending some time with our highly qualified and certified
professionals. The best in the business, our guides go through
intense training that is totally unique to Discover France in all the
regions in which we operate.
We only hire guides who possess top-level cycling experience,
extensive knowledge of nature and heritage, exhibit great
interpersonal skills (to make rides fun and exciting) and are
multilingual. Most of all, our guides are enthusiastic about cycling
and sharing that passion with travelers.
7. Official Operator of the Tour de France
As the official Tour de France tour operator, we are able to offer
exclusive, VIP access along the course. Imagine mingling with the
pros at the Departure Village, following the Caravan, flying in a
helicopter to get a bird’s eye view of the cyclists en route, taking
on the same alpine summits and racing across the same finish
lines—just before the pros do, popping open a celebratory bottle
of bubbly on the Champs-Elysées.
8. Custom Trip
For any group of four or more travelers, we are able to completely
from scratch customize a trip. In the past, we have crafted itineraries
for cycling clubs, garden clubs, hiking clubs, outdoor clubs, groups
of friends and family reunions.
Combined with our expertise in the sport of cycling, we are able
to add all manner of experiences, such as sporting excursions
(canoeing and kayaking, canyoning), cooking classes, wine and
gastronomy education, aromatherapy, yoga, spa and treasure
hunts.
Beyond activities, all other details can be customized based on
each group’s needs. We can arrange deluxe chateaux stays (or
modest B&B’s) and van support. The range is wide open.
