2. 1st year premium analysis for top 5 players
• Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) continued to grow at a faster pace compared to private insurance players in first-year
premium growth during April-August period.
• Private players total market share increased from 26.83% in July’19 to 26.94% in August’19.
• Although HDFC life maintained its second position but it’s Growth on 1st year premium basis declined almost 6% on month on
month basis & market share declined by 22bps.

4. First Year Premium Analysis By Types
• Growth in insurance was largely due to the surge in group non-single business and individual single premium business in
the April-August period. It also indicates that for long term life goals, life insurance is one of the strongest investments to
make no matter how the markets are doing.
• For the month of August, new business premiums for the life insurance industry grew by 26.37% at Rs 23,554.94 crore
compared to Rs 18,639.29 crore seen in August last year.
