1. Adriana Sabau Biography
Adriana Sabau was born in 1983 in Timisoara, Romania and moved to England at the
age of 25, driven by a strong desire for adventure, mental stimulation, curious to find
fresh perspectives and a longing to do something more meaningful with her work.
Whilst in the UK she has worked as a free lancer with a Brighton based music record
label as well as with independent companies, musicians, artists and writers.
Adriana began her career as a video editor and camera operator at TeleUniversitatea
Timisoara whilst studying video production. Looking for new opportunities to
experiment with her own creativity, after the completion of the course, Adriana started
working at the German State Theatre Timisoara as a Theatrical Lighting Technician.
Her passion for moving image was seething inside, but coming from a place where
artistic expression in film industry had been controlled with an iron fist by the
communism she found herself blocked by oppressive structures.
Her work tends to focus on music but other people's stories have inspired her to look in
new directions, therefore the birth of her first film "Swenglish - A Journey of Self
Discovery". Her work pushes the bar of factual tv and making programmes, exploring
different alternatives to traditional narratives or methods of working.
