Nature of work on field:
• Mainly dealing with marine environment impact assessment. The nature of duties
on field at this centre involves extensive fieldwork in the coastal and estuarine waters
of west coast of India. As well as gained expertise in collection methodologies of
biological samples for various studies like Zooplankton, Phytoplankton, Microbiology,
Benthos. Capable of undertaking field studies even in rough weather conditions. In
the field well accustomed with the operation of Niskin water sampler, Heron-Trenton
Net, van Veen Grab and Quadrate sampling.
• Participated in Environmental quality monitoring programme along northwest coast
of India by ORV Sagar Purvi organized by Ministry of earth science, Govt of India.
Nature of work in Lab:
Worked assiduously in laboratory carrying out analysis and identification of macro
benthos up to group level and amphipods up to genus level. Participated in a number of
sponsored and Government aided projects. Have hands on experience on analysis of
benthic fauna with sophisticated instruments as stereo and compound microscopes. Also
well versed with computerized data processing.
