MAKING ADVANCED ANALYTICS WORK FOR YOU

This small presentation is made by Aditya Shekhar as a part of task of Day
3 Week 4 of Data Analytics internship under Prof. Mathur, IIM-L
Big data can transform the way companies do their
business. The data driven decisions taken will
become an important point of competitive
differentiation. This is also confirmed by the
research at MIT which says that companies that
depend more on data and analytics for decision
making have more productive rates and higher profit
(5% - 6%).
Every consumer/customer have different mind sets. Each one
of them has its own role to play. To understand them requires
a multi faceted approach. This includes training, leaders
setting an example, incentives and metrics to reinforce
behavior. This will however be a cumbersome and a difficult
task to complete, this would certainly produce a shift in
mindset and decisions will be taken accordingly. This will also
allow flexibility in the company.
In order to carry out the above ones, there is the need of
having adequate knowledge of big data’s core skills.

MANAGERIAL INSIGHTS
Managers should consider profit based program for
company’s growth. They should have the skills of
analytics and how it works to make this possible. Also
in order to understand their customers they need to
have multifaceted approach. To be obvious, there is
the need of big data and analysis as a pre-requisite to
this.
As stated, managers need transparent
methods for using the new models and
algorithms on a daily basis. There are huge
data being transferred and analyzed on a day
to day basis. This is important for enhancing
the skills and work for improvement.

  • 4. Big data can transform the way companies do their business. The data driven decisions taken will become an important point of competitive differentiation. This is also confirmed by the research at MIT which says that companies that depend more on data and analytics for decision making have more productive rates and higher profit (5% - 6%).
  • 5. Every consumer/customer have different mind sets. Each one of them has its own role to play. To understand them requires a multi faceted approach. This includes training, leaders setting an example, incentives and metrics to reinforce behavior. This will however be a cumbersome and a difficult task to complete, this would certainly produce a shift in mindset and decisions will be taken accordingly. This will also allow flexibility in the company. In order to carry out the above ones, there is the need of having adequate knowledge of big data’s core skills.
  • 8. Managers should consider profit based program for company’s growth. They should have the skills of analytics and how it works to make this possible. Also in order to understand their customers they need to have multifaceted approach. To be obvious, there is the need of big data and analysis as a pre-requisite to this.
  • 9. As stated, managers need transparent methods for using the new models and algorithms on a daily basis. There are huge data being transferred and analyzed on a day to day basis. This is important for enhancing the skills and work for improvement.
