Morning Session: Half Day Workshop
Adil Dalal
CEO of Pinnacle Process Solutions, Intl®
TOPIC: Sensei Leadership™: A Legacy Driven Leadership™ Practice
of Great Leaders
Since the time of early humans, the influence of leaders like kings, queens,to modern
C-level executives, presidents, governors, military generals and even dictators, in
shaping our world is quite evident. Leadership, in humans, animals, and insect
kingdoms is a key aspect which determines survival and evolution of species. The
process of leadership involves‘an influence of a leader over followers to achieve a
common goal’(Northouse, 2013). Although leadership is a highly valued universal
phenomenon with a plethora of academic, research, publications, models and experts;
a universally accepted definition of leadership is still lacking; thus making leadership
the most written about topic in human history, but also the most misunderstood. A
factor that prevents a universal definition is that leadership is context based
phenomenon, and the ever-changing requirements on a business, cultural, social,
technological, national, and international level, makes it impossible to distill
leadership to its fundamental essence.
According to late Steve Jobs,“Innovation distinguishes between a leader and a
follower.” Author, Adil F. Dalal’s triple-award winning book, The 12 Pillars of Project
Excellence: A Lean Approach to Improving Project Results (Dalal, 2011), provides a
deeper level of innovation – an innovation of the human motivation and the
leadership model itself. Adil has not only been successful in distilling leadership to its
core essence, but also offers a moreuniversal model of sensei leadership™ to bring
about a personal transformation within the leaders themselves. He combines the
concept of leadership with the concept introduced in his breakthrough book, of A
Legacy Driven Life: Live a Legacy to Leave a Legacy (Dalal, 2013) along with some
fundamental principles of motivation by Maslow (1954) and Frankl (1946), to provide
how sensei leaders™ adopt a legacy driven leadership practice. Thus, sensei
leadership™ goes beyond the traditionalautocratic, democratic, transactional,
transformational, servant, authentic and other models of leadership and provides a
practical and demonstrableshift in being a truly successful leader leading teams and
organizations to a new level of success. This will be an inspirational, life and career
altering topic which will provide an individual with a step by-step formula to escape
from the bondage of a managerial mind-set and soar to the pinnacle of leadership
excellence.
