WorldTeach is a non-profit organization that places volunteer teachers in developing countries to teach English and promote global citizenship. Adena Hernandez volunteered with WorldTeach in Thailand from April to July 2013, teaching English at primary schools. Her supervisor, Daniel Warden, recommends Adena highly. Adena succeeded in adapting to Thai culture and teaching responsibilities. She planned engaging English lessons and built strong relationships with students and teachers. In addition, Adena actively participated in her community by leading after-school programs, judging contests, and training local teachers. Daniel believes Adena would be a great addition to any program.

To Whom It May Concern:
It is my great pleasure to recommend Adena Hernandez to you as an incredibly competent, dependable, and
motivated individual. As the WorldTeach Head Teacher in Thailand, I served as Adena’s supervisor from April
2013 through her departure from the program in July of the same year.
WorldTeach is an independently incorporated, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization based in Cambridge,
Massachusetts. WorldTeach partners with governments and other organizations in developing countries, enabling
its volunteers to meet local needs, make a meaningful contribution to international education by living and working
as volunteer teachers, and promote responsible global citizenship. Over 4,000 WorldTeach volunteers have served
in Africa, Asia, Eastern Europe, the Pacific Islands, and Latin America since 1986. In Thailand, specifically,
WorldTeach volunteers work in rural and under-funded schools in order to help less privileged children learn the
valuable skill of speaking English. As a volunteer with WorldTeach Thailand, Adena succeeded in making several
drastic personal adjustments including adapting to a new culture, assimilating to local ways of life, and operating
day-to-day in habits that she was not accustomed to.
During her commitment as a volunteer at Chanot and Changom primary schools, Adena was responsible for the
planning and execution of all her English classes—a task that included implementing effective language teaching
methodologies in addition to fulfilling all other responsibilities as laid out by their placement school. Adena had
the opportunity to teach grades first through sixth and truly excelled in the classroom.
I had several opportunities to observe Adena in the classroom throughout her commitment. Adena was consistently
prepared, organized, and always ensured that her students received excellent English instruction. Adena put
considerable effort into planning her lessons carefully in order to meet the schools’ and students’ needs. Adena’s
creativity and resourcefulness enabled her to quickly adapt to living and working in a challenging, foreign
environment. I was also impressed by Adena’s ability to work effectively with her students, the great relationships
she built with her fellow Thai teachers, and the passion for academic excellence in her classroom.
In addition to her successes in the classroom, I was particularly struck by Adena’s willingness to get involved
within her community. Adena frequently assisted in leading after-school English Camps for interested students,
served as a judge for multiple English contests, and assisted in leading seminars for local teachers and district
employees.. As Head Teacher, these are all clear signs that Adena appreciated the community, established strong
ties with its members, and fully integrated into life in rural, Northeastern Thailand.
I genuinely believe that Adena Hernandez will be a great addition to your program, as she has been to ours. If you
have any further questions, please feel free to contact me at the email address or phone number provided below.
Sincerely,
Daniel Warden
