Effects of Fast food Obesity, especially child obesity from fast food is the growing problem in the US today. The main culprit is actually hiding under the veil of the yummy taste and the low cost of the “happy meals”. Yes it's the fast food that we cannot simply resist. A study shows that nearly one-third of all American children, both boys and girls in the age group 4-19 eat fast food on a regular basis. The study also shows that kids also gain weight up to 6 pounds per year on the regular consumption of fast food. This is an astonishing fact that definitely needs a lot of attention.

Facts about Fast Foods Children learn about fast food restaurants at a early age. They make commercials of there products to stimulate a child's brain to have children have the desire for fast foods.
Effects of Fast Food On the Body Eating fast food and leading a sedentary lifestyle leads to obesity. Obesity leads to other complications like increase in the cholesterol level, blocking of the arteries, the increased risk of coronary diseases, in addition to the general physical discomfort posed by the extra weight. Fast food is also addictive and hence it is very difficult to give up on their greasy and fatty foods and carbonated drinks and switch to healthier options.

These fast food restaurant are very close in the school district and neighborhoods. (percent increase in obesity rates. There is no discernable effect at .25 miles and at .5) (restaurant within a half mile of his/her residence results in a 2.5 percent increase in the probability of gaining over 20 kilos)
Effects of Fast Food Effects of Fast Food : Ill Effects of CholesterolMeat in fast food is very dangerous for the health. Meat contains cholesterol and hence leads to the accumulation of high cholesterol in the body. Cholesterol molecules can accumulate in the arteries and lead to clogging or thickening of the arteries. Thickening or clogging of arteries can lead to an obstructed blood flow and affect the blood pressure. In case the artery, which carries blood to the heart, gets clogged, it can result in heart attack or even heart failure in extreme cases where blood flow is completely obstructed.
Effects of Fast Food Effects of Fast Food: Sodium and Increased Blood Pressure Most of these quick and convenient meals contain high amount of sodium, which increases and aggravates the risks of high blood pressure. According to the recommendations of the National Research Council of the National Academy of Sciences 1,200 - 1,500 mg of sodium is the daily sodium requirement for adults. Keeping these figures in mind, you should also know that the regular table salt that we consume contains 40% sodium and a single teaspoon of table salt contains 2,300 mg of sodium. Although the body requires minimum quantities of sodium, too much sodium contributes to high blood pressure. Sodium can also lead to building-up of fluids in case of people who are suffering from people with congestive heart failure, cirrhosis, or kidney disease.
Effects Of fast food Effects of Fast Food: Dealing with Trans FatTrans fat, which is infamous as the worst type of fat, is found abundantly in various fast foods. Trans fat is considered as the most harmful type of fat because it not only increases the ‘bad cholesterol’ (low density lipoprotein) levels but also reduces the ‘good cholesterol’ (High density lipoprotein) levels. Most commonly trans fat is a commonly found in ingredients in all the processed foods. Foods that contain artificial trans fats contain up to 45% more trans fat as compared to their natural fat counterparts
Effects Of Fast Food Why are fast foods considered to be so bad? It is widely known that most fast foods are full of harmful carbohydrates, fat, and calories. With the spread of awareness about how certain foods can cause obesity and other ill effects, people want to know how much saturated fat, cholesterol, carbohydrate, sugar, and sodium they are consuming in the fast foods they eat. Hence, information about fast food nutrition facts has become as important as the nutritional information provided on food products purchased in grocery stores. With the fast food information now available, people are beginning to understand why these foods cause weight problems, diabetes, and high cholesterol. When you look at the fast food nutritional facts, you will be staggered by the amount of calories alone these foods contain. The saturated fats in fast foods are directly linked to heart problems, the high sodium content causes high blood pressure, and the high amounts of refined carbohydrate and sugar leads to diabetes. Therefore, a regular diet of these harmful ingredients has the potential of leading to many health problems.
Effects Of Fast Food Since the FDA issued the order to fast food restaurants to provide all the fast food nutrition facts, fast food carry out eateries and dine-ins are making an effort to alter their menu by providing healthier choices now, and are also making available all the nutrition facts. This is enabling people make healthier choices in the foods they order.
Effects Of Fast Food Since there has been an increase in awareness, and consumers have been expressing their concern about the nutritional value of the foods they buy from fast food outlets, these restaurants are now under a lot of pressure and scrutiny, forcing them to comply with the expectations of consumers. For example, these days salad bar restaurants are springing up, offering a healthier alternative. This is forcing other regular fast food restaurants to have healthy salads as a choice in their menus. However, you need to beware of the dressings, pasta salads, and the desserts that are on offer. The key to eating healthy is to use moderation and avoid foods high in saturated fats, refined carbs, cholesterol, too much salt, and sugar. A number of fast food restaurants are now proclaiming that they are making a switch from saturated fats to un-saturated fats, and are eliminating trans fats from their foods.
