2. • The reason I chose this thriller is because
it includes the same key themes as our
film.
• Its main themes are obsession, stalking,
love, violence, and anxiety.
• This is similar to our film as Ben and
Bethany have a similar relationship as Ben
becomes obsessed with building a
relationship with her again and is willing
to do anything to get close to her again
including killing her friends.
3. Camera Work
In the opening of this film they use a
variety of different shots especially
close ups on objects within the
house. There is little movement in
each shot and the movement is slow
and smooth.
The positioning of the camera varies
in different shots for example the
picture at the bottom is a low angle
looking up at the shower head and
the picture at the top is a straight on
mid shot.
4. Mise en Scene
In the first two minutes you are
introduced to the main character Leah
and her long-term boyfriend Dave. You
see her everyday routine, her house,
and the location she lives in. This will
help the audience to understand more
about her using mise en scene by what
you see her do and the possessions in
her house.
By the clothes she’s wearing and the
style of hair and the type of house she
lives in, it can convey to the audience
that she has a good job and a comfy
lifestyle with her boyfriend living in Los
Angeles. The lighting in the opening
sequence is fairly bright but has some
5. Editing
The shot selection in the opening
sequence has continuity of her
morning getting up and ready for
work. However its pieces of what
she's doing so it looks more of a
montage.
The transitions between shots are
quick and although what you see in
the shots are slowly paced.
The shot durations and pace are fairly
slow and steady but consistent.
There are no special effects used in
the opening sequence that would
enhance the film.
6. Sound
There is diegetic sound effects in the opening
sequence of shower running and the taps
turning off, also the dialogue is diegetic and the
ambient sounds outside like the birds and cars.
The music put alongside the opening sequence
is non-diegetic as it would not be heard in real
life.
