2. INTRODUCTION:
• Loss of biodiversity in Africa.
• Biodiversity conservation is crucial.
• Conservation genomics being powerful.
7. GENOMICS AND CONSERVATION:
GENOMIC DATA IS USED;
• To identify adaptive genetic variation.
• To differentiate nearly related but adaptively different populations.
• For determining the genome segments involved in adaption.
• To detect harmful mutations in the genes.
8. GENETIC TOOLS:
• DNA fingerprinting.
• Gel electrophoresis.
• Molecular markers(RAPD, SSR, AFLP’s, RFLP’s etc)
9. CONCLUSION:
• Appreciating and utilizing conservation benefits of genomics.
• Advanced genomics, helpful to know relation between ecosystem and
organism, and among organisms.
FUTURE PERSPECTIVE:
• Use of genomic methods in developing countries should be elevated.
