PRESENTATION ABOUT SOLAR CELL WHICH DEALS WITH ALMOST ADVANTAGES AND FEATURES OF SOLAR CELL AND IT WILL BE A AWARENESS ABOUT SOLAR ENERGY WE CAN UTILIZE THE SOLAR ENERGY AND CHANGE OUR WORLD INTO ECO FRIENDLY
2. INTRODUCTION
In photovoltaic conversion, the solar radiation falls on a semiconductor device called solar cell.
The solar photo voltaic cell is composed by a P-type semiconductor and an N-type
semiconductor. Solar light hitting the cell produces two types of electrons, negatively and
positively charged electrons in the semiconductors when the shines on a solar cell, negatively
charged electrons gather around the N-type semiconductor while positively charged electrons
gather around the P-type semiconductor. When you connect the loads such as the lightbulb
electric current flows between the two electrodes. The DC supplied. The main advantage of solar
cells are there is no moving parts.
When the light falls on the solar cell the
photons enable electrons to break free from
the junction between them this is called
photoelectric effect.
4. THE THREE MAIN
TYPES OF SOLAR
POWER SYSTEMS
• 1. On-grid - also known as a grid-tie or grid-feed solar system
• 2. Off-grid - also known as a stand-alone power system (SAPS)
• 3. Hybrid - grid-connected solar system with battery storage
6. ADVANTAGES
1. No moving part, therefore efficiency is high
2. Little maintenance
3. Work quite satisfactorily with beam or diffuse radiation
DISADVANTAGES
1. As in all renewable energy sources, solar energy has intermittency
issues; not shining at night but also during daytime there may be cloudy
or rainy weather.
2. Solar panels efficiency levels are relatively low (between 14%-25%)
compared to the efficiency levels of other renewable energy systems.
