RESEARCH OVERVIEW
In the beginning of fall 2013 semester, I started performing my research, which is
“Structural and Optical Properties of Europium (EU) Doped ZnO Thin Film
Deposited by Pulsed Laser Deposition. The research is under Dr. Iman Roqan
The objective of the research is studying the structural and optical properties of ZnO
nanostructure, in this study; we are attempting to understand the relationship between
surface energy and nanostructure growth.
Pure ZnO and EU doped ZnO thin films will be deposited by pulsed laser deposition
(PLD) using different deposition conditions. This will be conducted to correlate the
change between the structure and optical properties. Then structural properties of the
films will be characterized using x-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron
microscope (SEM). Also, we used Photoluminescence (PL) to investigate the optical
properties of these films.
