8. CATTLE SECTION:
Properties:
• Medium-sized, and has a fleshy body.
• Reddish color.
• Skin is loose and fine with a voluminous dewlap and sheath.
• Tail ends in a black switch.
• Tick resistant breed.
• Milk yield is 1500-2200 liters per lactation with a fat. content of 3.5 %.
• Age at first calving is 45 months.

10. BUFFALO SECTION:
Properties of the Nili-Ravi breed:
• The body is solid, and the barrel-shaped
• The head is long
• The neck is long and thin
• Remember the milk is 1800 to 2500 litres per lactation, with a fat
content of about 6.5 %.

14. CALF SECTION:
Calf Housing Management
• Few days after birth calves are kept in pens to prevent
them from eating soil.
• 3 inch naval cord cutting and disinfictant.
• Ad-lib Clostrum feeding after 30 minute of calving.
• Clostrum feeding upto 3 days.

• Green fodder is not given to 4 month calf because of
non.developed rumen
15. Process of weaning :
• Weaning at 120 days of age.
• 10% milk of body weight is given at 2 month of age.
• 7% milk of body weight is given at 3 month of age.
• 3% milk of body weight is given at 4 month of age.
Tagging.
• Ear tagging at 2nd to 3rd day of calving.
16. DISBUDDING:
• Here at LPRI disbudding is done at 1 month of age.
• Castic potash is used for that purpose.
• caustic potash, sodium potash, and calcium potash are use for disbudding in
calf 70 % in potash and 30% water and cannot potash completely dissolve in
water.
Deworming:
• Deworming at age of 20 days of age.
• Repeat at 3 month of age.
17. VACCINATION:
H.S:
• First at 3-4 month of age.
• May-Jun / Nov-Dec.
• After one month booster dose is given in calves.
• IntraMuscular
F.M.D:
• First at 1 month of age.
• Feb-Mar/Aug-Sep.
B.Q:
• At 3-4 month of age
• Sub-cut.
18. A.I SECTION:
• A.I both at morning and evening time.
• The females in heat are detected with the help of Teaser Bulls.
• The detected females are then artificially inseminated.
• Records are maintained in registers for further pregnancy diagnosis
protocols.(P test @ 3 month).
19. GOAT SECTION:

22. CALF FATTENING SECTION:
Fattening Protocol:
• Duration: 3 Month
1. Weighing the calves when they reach Bahadurnagar farm.
2. Obtaining blood and fecal samples to check parasite infestation.
3. Deworming
4. Vaccination
5. Fattening for 3 months
6. Selling the animals (in auction / on application).
• TM ration is used for fattening (2% of body weight).
