Screenplay
1. Fade in:
INT. NEWSPAPER AGENTS - DAY
A newspaper slams down onto a table. The audience is only able to
see the word MISSING written in bold text before another hand comes
to remove the paper. The paper is rolled up, tied with a rubber band
and placed in a bag.
Cut:
EXT. NEIGHBOURHOOD - DAY
The audience sees the bag in the basket of a bike as a young
PAPERBOY, late teens dressed in warm clothing, begins delivering
newspapers by throwing them mindlessly at the houses.
He throws a newspaper. The newspaper suddenly hits him on the side
of his head.
He stops. He looks down at the newspaper then back up at the house.
There’s no one there. He looks around the neighbourhood, not a soul
in sight.
He picks up the newspaper and slowly approaches the door. He knocks.
Beat.
He knocks again.
PAPERBOY
Hello? Anyone home?
Cut:
INT. FRONTROOM- DAY
Inside the front room of the house, a sparsely decorated room which
is difficult to see with the nearly pitch-black lighting, the
audience watches through the perspective of something inside the
house as the PAPERBOY looks through the window.
The PAPERBOY knocks on the window.
Beat.
As soon as the PAPERBOY exits the view of the window, the thing
moves away from the window as well; approaching the door.
2. Cut:
EXT. OUTSIDE THE HOUSE - DAY
The audience watches from the perspective of the thing as it creeps
up on the PAPERBOY. Just as the thing has reached the back of the
PAPERBOY he turns around.
The perspective changes to the PAPERBOY’s just as he turns around to
find nothing behind him or near him. From behind him, a shadow darts
past causing the PAPERBOY to jump back and quickly turn around. He
sees an open window into the house.
The PAPERBOY looks through the window into the dimly lit house.
PAPERBOY
H-Hello?
Beat.
He looks around once more before climbing into the window. The
window shuts behind him as soon as his feet hit the ground.

and placed into a bag.
Cut:
EXT. NEIGHBOURHOOD - DAY
The audience sees the bag in the basket of a familiar bike as a new
PAPERGIRL begins delivering the papers, tossing them mindlessly
until she’s suddenly hit in the head with one of the newspapers.
She stops her bike and looks down at the newspaper.
She looks back up in the direction the paper came from. She sees
nothing except a familiar looking house.
