SAP Migration Classical approach V/S DMO Approach

1. Classical Vs DMO
Classical Migration (using SWPM/MIGMON/DISMON) DMO
This method used when there is only DB Migration involved, no upgrade
option.
This is used when we need to do both upgrade & migration on HANA DB
Multiple option for data transfer –
Socket mode option
Net Exchange mode option
FTP mode option are used to transfer data
Two options available for data transfer –
Memory pipes
Filesystem dump
All the migration steps are manual and required OSDB expertize to handle DMO migration process is all automated
Consultant who is doing this process needs to be OS / DB Certified (This is
mandatory)
migration check service required for Classical approach on productive
systems
OS/ DB certification is not mandatory.
No migration check service required for DMO on productive systems.
It required need more hardware to run parallel processes One hardware is sufficient but it can leverage migration server as central
helper server between source and target.
