3. Aitoc1. Enabling the extension
In System > Manage Aitoc Modules, check
True AJAX Navigation Filter and click "Save
modules settings" on the top right.

System > Manage Aitoc Modules
Once you have pressed "Save modules
settings", you will be prompted to rebuild
the indexes.
The filter won't start working until you
rebuild the True AJAX Navigation Filter
index. Click the "Index Management" link in
the notification to be taken to the page
where you can do that.

System > Index Management
Click "Reindex Data" to rebuild the True
AJAX Navigation Filter index.
You will get a message that reindexing will
start in approximately 5 minutes.
If you have Cron set up and configured in
Magento, reindexing will be performed
according to your Cron settings.
Important: if you do not have Cron set up,
you need to run it manually by opening
http://YOUR-DOMAIN/cron.php
The link will show a blank page in your
browser, but the index management page
in your admin panel will show that
rebuilding the index is in progress (you
have to refresh the page to see that).
6. As long as the Status says "Processing",
True AJAX Navigation Filter is not enabled.
Magento's default layered navigation is
used instead.
The time it takes to reindex depends on the
number of products, customer groups,
websites, etc. in your website.
E.g., reindexing a Magento installation with
about 9000 products, 2 customer groups
and 2 websites takes about 30 minutes.

Once reindexing is complete, the
notification shows "Ready" and Magento's
default layered navigation is replaced by
True AJAX Navigation Filter.

To have True AJAX Navigation Filter
enabled for a category, choose the
category and open the “Display Setting”
tab. Then set “Is Anchor” to “Yes”.

Now customer can filter products by
multiple attributes, select the number of
products to show on the page, switch
between list and grid view, sort by price,
position or name - and do all this without
page reloads or any additional requests to
the server.
