2. DEFINITION OF COMBINED EVENTS
• Combined events are combination of track
events and field events. It started during the
ancient Olympic Games to test the all-round
athletic ability of the competitors.
3. TYPES
• Outdoors, the most common combined events
are the men's decathlon and the women's
heptathlon.
• Due to stadium limitations, indoor combined
events competition have a reduced number of
events, resulting in the men's heptathlon and
the women's pentathlon.
4. • Athletes are allocated points based on an
international-standard points scoring system.
• Other longer combined events do exist, such
as the icosathlon (double decathlon) for men
and the tetradecathlon for women. Indoors,
both men and women compete in the
tetradecathlon, with slightly different events
to the women's outdoor version.

6. • PENTATHLON
• It consists of five events which are held in the
following order:
• Long jump
• Javelin throw
• 200m race
• Discus throw.
• 1,500m race.
7. • DECATHLON
It consists of ten events which are held on two
consecutive days in the following order:
• DAY ONE DAY TWO
• 100m race 110 hurdles
• Long jump Discus throw
• Shot-put Pole vault
• High jump Javelin Throw
• 400m race 1,500m race.
8. • HEPTATHLON
It consists of seven events that are held on two consecutive days
in the following order:
• DAY ONE
• 100m hurdles
• High jump
• Shot put
• 200m
• DAY TWO
• Long jump
• Javelin
• 800m
